Several of us from Casper were fortunate to book the Wine Paired Dinner at the Historic Elk Mountain Hotel and Restaurant on September 10, 2016. Susan, the chef, kicked off the causal event by introducing Marc Mondavi. It was a delightful & informative evening featuring wave after wave of great food and perfectly paired Charles Krug wines. Thanks to Susan... More

We stayed at the hotel, had dinner, which was really good and breakfast, which was good as well. The 4 of us all had different selections, and were very pleased with the food. However, I ordered the French Toast at breakfast with bacon and both were burnt.

What a jewel! My husband and I spent our 40th wedding anniversary at this beautiful retreat. The hosts, Susan and Arthur are gracious and friendly. The rooms are individually decorated and named, clean and comfortable. The attached bathroom was well-stocked. The entire lodge is well maintained and a blast to explore. The food was excellent and the host was very... More

Thanks for your kind remarks that I will share with my staff members as it is all teamwork and neither my husband or myself could not do this without their help. It is rewarding to know our efforts are appreciated and it is always fun to meet new people as well as to welcome back many of our repeat guests.... More

This was unexpectedly special. Looking for a place to stopover on the way from Jackson to Denver, I chose this because it seemed like it fit our timing needs and looked interesting. Great Victorian building, well maintained, thoughtfully renovated with a fascinating history of hosting famous "big band" dances in the 1950s -- Louis Armstrong, Tommy Dorsey, etc. in a... More

With the first contact with Susan, the manager & Chef de Cuisine, we knew we would enjoy our stay. It was everything we thought it would be and more. Upon arrival, we were greeted pleasantly by Susan, and then headed toward our room. We didn't get vey far before her husband offered to help us with our bags. We had... More

Wouldn't bother the lady that ran it is very rude and wouldn't even let us come in to see the place to see if we may want to stay or eat there so we went on. Way the lady acted I don't think she wants any business. Use to be great eating and nice place to stay but now I... More

Dear Bill, Sorry you feel that way, but this is a small private family run hotel that respects the privacy of its guests and the cleanliness of the facility. When doors are locked it is because staff members are busy preparing for new guests. There is a telephone in the vestibule for those checking in to contact us if we... More

We booked the Elk Mtn hotel with no real knowledge of its rich history. We were surprised by how beautifully restored and decorated it was. The rooms are charming and the experience was Perfect! As much as we enjoyed the hotel itself the dinner was amazing. Absolutely first class.

I was in Elk Mountain over 60 years ago and so this visit was kind of a busman holiday to see how the town and hotel looked to me now. What a great surprise. The food was excellent and the hotel incredible.....What great ambience. Susan and Arthur are superb hosts. Was fun for me to explore my past.

Would go there again and again. We stayed on whim while traveling, and are glad we did. Our room was very nice, and our private bathroom was spotless. Very classy for being remote.

Description
The hotel was established in 1905 and is known as 'Wyoming's hidden gem' despite being located just 3 miles off Interstate 80 between Rawlins and Laramie. The Victorian era hotel has 12 beautifully decorated en-suite rooms and a full service fine dining restaurant serving dinner prepared by our Cordon Bleu de Paris trained chef (and owner). The hotel is situated in 10 acres of meadow and woodland alongside the Medicine Bow River. Open year round, subject to the vagaries of the famous Wyoming weather!
