Our family was looking for dinner for nine people with special requirements. The Amber Grill took care of us, provided excellent service, and prepared delicious food. We were all pleased with the selection and quality of the food.

We went back a second time just to be sure. We were right; just as good for a Friday night fish fry the second time as well. Our new go to place for a great Wisconsin fish fry. Perch was served hot with light crisp...batter and homemade tartar. The fresh coleslaw was a small dish, not a tiny paper cup. The tasty potato pancake was a hit with the side of applesauce. The baked cod plate was just as good. Good selections of beer and a decent old fashioned. Nice sized portions at a reasonable price in a spacious, clean environment with perfect service as well. Checks all the boxes. Plenty of parking and easy to find on Hy 10.More
Its hit or miss with this place. Its had a lot of changes over the years and then Covid, but pricing and food could be better, We have gotten some really good food here and some really awful food too. Has a nice happy hour...though. Staff is good. Should bring back the Badger burger.More
My wife and friends met on a Friday and we all had a fish fry. Cod and Perch, either grilled or fried. We had the fried. Exceptional, the breading was perfect and prepared perfectly. The potato pancake was very very good. Service was very good...and attentive.More
Went to Amber Grill and order some takeout while sitting at the bar on Feb 15. Had 2 beers and a cocktail while I waited for my takeout. Ordered potato skins, Reuben and French Dip sandwich. Probably all said and done the bill was around...70 bucks. With a tip maybe around $85. Used a CC to purchase. 3 weeks later the charge was proceed at $130. Never going there again!!More
Hello Matt, We are sorry to hear there has been an issue with your credit card. Of course we would never charge someone more than what they have purchased. I would be happy to fix the payment for you if the issue has not been...More
I had a top notch dining experience at this restaurant. First, I was promptly seating in a all lighted location. Next treated to an awesome wine and beer menu. That followed by delicious food. Don’t let this place be missed if you are in the...area!More
We went as a party of 5 to check the restaurant out. We were first disappointed by the cold hard bread they served with our crab dip (new year special menu) but then we were truly mortified when a member of our party found a...sharp shard of what we thought was glass in the pizza. The manager came back to tell us that it was plastic. She was apologetic but her actions were not sufficient to bring back our lost appetite. I would not recommend going to this place for any reason. The manager did come back a second time and removed both pizzas from the bill, but we still had 2 entrees that were relatively untouched after we found the foreign object in the pizza which we paid full price for.More
Full bar, nice staff, and good food. The ribeye was pretty good but the butter on top provided most of the flavor. They have a wide selection of drinks with indoor and outdoor seating. Connected to the Holiday Inn in the area, it’s worth a...stop if you’re staying and it’s a quick walk away.More
Went for fish fry last night at Amber Grill in Stevens Point on Friday, June 4, 2021. Nice to see they were busy as Covid has been tough. All staff were masked up. Thank you. No reservations, so 40 min. wait. No problem because they...have a great bar with sports on the TVs. Numerous good beers on tap; my favorites are Point Amber and Blue Moon. The bartender (just one this time) was very busy, but very efficient and really nice; no long waits for drinks. She made awesome old fashions too. We had fried perch and cod, both very good. The au gratin potatoes are the best and my daughter loved the potato pancakes too. The cole slaw was just how I like it; crisp, creamy, and sweet! I almost forgot, those green beans are so good! Our waitress was wonderful and checked on us numerous times, including bringing drinks. The table busser asked us if we needed anything too, and the even the manager checked on us and we had nothing but positive comments. I can't think how our experience could have been any better. What really makes the experience, other than the good food and drinks, of course, is the great staff. We thanked them, tipped them well, and hope that they will be there next time we come there. We definitely will!More
Very friendly attentive service, good food. Yummy potato skins, tender ribs with flavorful sauce, awesome teriyaki beans. The mashed potatoes were overly garlicky tho, even my garlic loving hubby thought so. They have lots of flecks of black pepper too which adds a little heat,...which was fine with us. We were pleased to discover they thoughtfully supply damp napkins for the ribs! The menu is a bit limited compared to some places, which does make it easier to decide what you want, ha! It doesn't have everything that's listed online tho, so I couldn't order what I planned.More
It was in between “Very good” and “Average”, but I went with “very good” because the customer service was above average so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. We went there for prime rib last night, it wasn’t on their menu at all...but the hostess assured us that the waitress would know about it. Nevertheless, I ordered a twice baked and prime rib, medium well and my girlfriend ordered a French dip w/ fries. Her food was warm and she had no complaints. On the other hand, my food wasn’t cold, but it definitely didn’t just come out of the oven. The prime rib and au jus were VERY bland, but the rub on the meat was good. Additionally, if my twice baked was warmer it would’ve been the best twice baked potato I’ve ever had. This place was okay on food and flavor, but above average in customer service.More
We made a reservation for 8 people through Open Table. Hostess did not have the reservation and it took a while to put the tables together even though they weren’t busy. Once seated the waitress was very lackadaisical and it took forever to get our...drinks. We had to call her to the table to take our order after we had waited quite some time. She seemed unfamiliar with some of the items on the menu. Our food finely arrived one hour after we were seated and they were not busy. The food was beautifully presented, everyone who ordered a steak said it was done perfectly. The salmon was moist and tasty. The teriyaki green beans were excellent. The kitchen staff should be very upset with the front staff. The very good food was overshadowed by the long wait, the waitress’ inattentiveness and cold atmosphere.More
Went for breakfast. 4 other tables being served. No acknowledgement when we arrived. Pretty much ignored for the first 4 minutes. Didn't ask if we wanted coffee. She took forever. Dropped off coffee and left. I had to get up and ask her to come...to the table so we could order. Kind of put a sour mood on the start of the day. Food was okay. Lovely atmosphere. Would like to see what dinner's like. I would give them a second chance next time in town.More
This restaurant is expensive and the food was just okay. They did have friendly staff and very clean place.
Shrimp scampi, served with teryaki greenbeans and choice of potato? Is that some weird Italian-Japanese fusion trend? Amber Grill offers several pasta dishes, but when we asked if we could sub a side of pasta for potato the waitress cheerfully informed us, "No." Well, alrighty...then. Didn't even bother to ask if we could sub brocolli for the beans. Since substitutions were not an option we decided instead to pay extra for a side salad, hold the greenbeans and potato. The shrimp were bland and swimming in a boat of melted butter. The entire experience was just odd, from the bordello decor, to the weird plating, and the bizarre non-subable sides. The hyper-cheerful yet stunningly negative service was the cherry on top of this surreal David Lynch restaurant horror flick. If you're stuck at this Holiday Inn and can't get to one of the other nearby restaurants, maybe try your luck with the cheese curds and a burger. Then close your eyes and pretend you're at Culver's. Pro Tip: there are 42 other restaurants in Stevens Point that offer delivery to your hotel room with DoorDash.More
