This is a cook your own meal restaurant. Waited 45 minutes for seat. Spent time in very noisy bar. Ok but drink prices on the high side. In the restaurant there was a very large grill where you cooked your own steak (various cuts), chicken or fish. We did steaks which were reasonably sized but not the best quality meat.... More

3 times the Sunday brunch I've ordered has been served to me ice cold. Cold eggs and hard beef tips for ten dollars. Feel free to spend your money here, just be sure to pack your own microwave to make the food edible.

We went here after hearing a lot about the place. We had heard that it was the place to go on your birthday because you got a free steak, however we are always in a never ending mission to find good places to eat in the portage area. It was a breath of fresh air. The food was fresh and... More

It is a grill your own place. Steaks are decent cut. So if your food is bad it is pretty much your fault for not knowing how to cook. Decor is a little dated but otherwise it is a decent place overall. They offer your dinner for free if it is your birthday with the purchase of a second dinner.

We drove up to Hooker's Resort for the All You Can Eat Fish Fry from Madison Friday night. It was so worth the drive. Hooker's is a grill your own steak house. In addition to huge steaks, they have fish and chicken. It is grill your own, so if you want someone to grill it for you, this is not... More

I was quite surprised to see the average rating for the restaurant, some people complaining about the fact that you have to cook your own meat. that's the whole point though! it's a really nice social time with a beer chatting around the fire. The atmosphere is great, the service and food are very good.

Hadn't been to Hooker's in years. Lots of potential on the Wis. River. The best part was the server Amanda. However, she took forever to refill our drinks. Second best, one of us had a view of the river. The other had a view of a weird closet(?) with a dirty cement floor, a stack of white five gallon pails... More

You can cook your own steak on the open grill or you can have them cook it for you. Go early if you can or the resteraunts fills up fast. Doesn't seem like they have enough waitresses to come and check on you.

On August 1st two of my close friends met at Hooker's Restaurant and Bar, affiliated with Hooker's Resort. The day was just beautiful, low 80's with nice puffy clouds. The view to the Wisconsin River less than 100 yards away was wonderful. For lunch, only the bar is open but with a nice lunch menu! I chose the Walleye ($7.99)... More

There were six of us and a three year old. I went to visit my sister and we decided we needed a fish fry. I hadn't been to Hookers since my parents were alive back in the 90 's. The special was all you can eat of fried cod, clam strips or frog legs. Start with one, order a different... More
