The fish board here is a pescatarian's paradise! We tried the smoked eel and kedgeree scotch egg to start. Amazing flavours, cooked to perfection. Also had the octopus and the roast mushroom faggot, both exceptional. I actually almost couldn't believe the mushroom faggot was vegetarian...More

A slight exaggeration perhaps but when a waiter lists all the fish contained in the fish pie, making it sound like a roll-call of ocean life,we were entitled to expect more than the few sad morsels that appeared. The finished dish came in a starter size ramekin...More

Hi, I'm afraid we don't currently offer outdoor seating. Our conservatory is lovely in summer however and we often have the windows open. Best wishes, Tim

*Please note on some old Sat Navs our postcode CB25 9JG directs you to Ely but we are just off Junction 34 of the A14 on the outskirts of Cambridge. The Crown & Punchbowl is a quaint country pub, restaurant and inn nestled amongst farmhouses in the village of Horningsea, just 3 miles from the centre of Cambridge. This Grade II listed building was originally an old coaching inn constructed in the 17th century. It has been extended periodically but retains many of its traditional features including brick fireplaces and original timber beams. The pub serves local real ales straight from the cask whilst the restaurant offers seasonal modern British food in relaxed surroundings. We are a passionate local business devoted to providing fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced food. Our style can be best described as Modern British & European with a regularly changing menu. Food is keenly prepared, presented and served by a knowledgeable team. Please see our blackboards for fresh fish. All fish is supplied by Marrfish from day boats and delivered fresh daily. These dishes change regularly and are from a sustainable source.
