We decided to spend some time in the bar area and were pleasantly greeted by Zack. He was very knowledgeable about the beers and made recommendations to us on dinner choices. We tried everything he had mentioned such as the goulash, sauerbraten and Wiener schnitzel...More

This restaurant was originally called "The Comfort," when a German immigrant named Charles Mader opened it in 1902. It was renamed "Maders" when it relocated to a better location. Other restaurants of the era were also in business, but they have all come & gone,...More

I understand this place is the oldest restaurant in Milwaukee and the atmosphere is very authentic but the food was pretty average. In fact my wienerschnitzel was over cooked and fairly dry. Unfortunately, our waitress lacked any enthusiasm and seemed to hate her life and...More

Great meat and cheese board. Two types of aged cheddar and unreal sausages. Had candied nuts, chutney and bread. Great tastes and perfectly filling. Randy informed me about the desserts and tried the apple strudel ala mode. Incredible!

Visiting Milwaukee for the first time and had heard rumor of the best in German American food to be Mader’s. Being a German American myself, I compare everything to Grandma’s. While the prices are on the high end, the food, ambience, and overall experience supersede...More

I've been to Germany a dozen times and this food is authentic. I had a problem with my meal, but the manager, Matt, made it more than right. I'll be back!
