Recently visited this restaurant with friends and was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and reminded us of German Food that we experienced in Germany. Will definitely come back to visit this restaurant again. Appetizers were very creative and tasty and the Schaum Torte for dessert was great. This restaurant was relatively quiet, I could actually carry on a... More

Had a wonderful (large) family New Year's Eve at Ratzsch's, the first time I'd crossed the threshold since the ownership change. Although I missed the live musicians, all else was little changed as far as decor and atmosphere. Happily, still strong on the Gemütlichkeit. Because it was NYE and most parties seemed to arrive in a pretty narrow window, the... More

In our first visit under the new ownership, we were looking for traditional German food. Our out of town guest was on a nostalgia tour for "what she remembered from her youth." On a snowy night before Christmas we received great service and the traditional Wienerschnitzel was better than remembered from the Ratzsch family. Sauerbraten, another standard was tangy, homemade... More

Our family has dined countless times at Karl Ratzsch and we wanted to embrace the new version. But sadly, we miss the old Karl Ratzch very much. Dinners used to be complete with soup, salad and potato but now the menu is all ala carte and smaller portions. This causes prices to be much much higher. Great potential, nice remodel... More

Always excellent food at Ratzsch's. We were slightly disappointed with one of our entrees. They quickly substituted another dish, and did not charge us. The prices are a little higher than years ago, but the food is always great.

I'm glad I hadn't read the reviews before making reservations! Our party of four enjoyed our evening at Karl Ratzch. The duck with lentils, Hungarian goulash and sausage sampler were all very good. The prime rib was good but not great. And the desserts were all great, particularly the apfel strudel. The portions were filling but left room for dessert,... More

The worst shank I have ever had at a German eatery. The meat was so dryed out and very tough.I took my mom there even she said for a German eatery very sad ...the renovation could have been more tastefully I miss the warm feeling when walking in .the wooden floors make it cold and echoed...I have been going here... Zero atmosphere without old world charm. Menu very limited. Liver dumpling soup was gross flavored with soggy pasty dumplings. Potato dumpling equally pasty and flavorless. Schnitzel was DEEP FRIED...horrid leathery gross strips that could have been flavorless chicken. Ratzch's good name is besmirched by the current chefs disasterous dishes. Spare yourself the disappointment and avoid this place at all cost.

We took our granddaughter to a Xmas play and dinner to one of favorite German restaurants for an ol' fashioned Milwaukee Xmas . The waitress was attentive and took our order in good form. When we were finally served the food was only lukewarm. My wife's duck was only warm and was a small portion not in keeping with prior... More

Granted this was Thanksgiving and I was too late getting a reservation at my usual place so I picked Karl Ratzsch's. Nice start parking 1 block from the restaurant on the street. A couple reasonably priced cocktails to start. Tasty. Had a nice table and a fairly friendly waitress/server. We were served at our reservation time. Ordered turkey dinners. No... More
