We drove 1 ½ hours for the sole purpose of celebrating our anniversary at The Fat Canary. Our previous two times we were blown away with how great the food was. This time it was very good, but we weren't "blown away". The cheese and Virginia ham appetizer was tasty, the Manakintowne salad was excellent, Wife had a half order... More

My wife and I went here for dinner. I had the tenderloin and it was incredible. My wife had the pork chops and they were delicious. The place is small and crowded so you need to make reservations. We even had to wait about 30 minutes past the time. A bar is available for a drink while you wait. The... More

When I first heard the name and until we got to the restuarant, I thought, what a strange name. Who ever saw a fat canary? Well this is referring to the Islands where ships reprovisioned not the little signers. This is one of the nicest places we've ever eaten and we've been around. Restuarant is not crowded. Has a bar... More

We love Fat Canary for many reasons. The most important is the quality of the food. The offerings on the menu always have a uniqueness and always sound yummy and have a wow feature. Each item on the menu is carefully made with the highest quality ingredients and seasonings. The superb presentation of the food is easily visible as you... More

Very enjoyable meal in a friendly, modern restaurant. With four people, we tried 3 appetizers and 4 entrees. All were excellent, but our favorites were the Foie Gras, the Rabbit with Wild Mushrooms and the Guinea Fowl with parmesan gnocchi. Our server was very friendly, helpful and efficient in taking care of several tables in the full restaurant. Restrooms are... More

I have had pork chops from Mustards Grill, in Napa and The Buckhead Diner and the chops at the Carney were the very best. Cooked perfect. The deserts were outstanding.

Kudos to Tom Powers (Executive Chef) and his staff on a most memorable meal. Truly, if you have the means, then take the time to not miss this place. Special of the night I enjoyed was Seared Grouper, perfectly prepared. For an app, I had their Fois Gras. I could have eaten it all night. Could've had a little bit... More

My wife took me to Fat Canary for my birthday dinner. We had never been there, so we didn't know what to expect. Well, it was a fabulous meal! My appetizer (lobster linguini) was superb as was the salad that my wife ordered. Our main courses (tenderloin for my wife, scallops for me) were done to perfection. About the only... More

Didn't have a reservation so we put our names on the list for their first come first served outdoor seating (on the side of the restaurant, a heated outdoor patio). It was about a 30min wait on a Saturday night but boy was it worth it! Food was phenomenal- service was ok (they may have been short staffed). Will definitely... More

Centrally located within easy walking distance of Colonial Williamsburg buildings and attractions. Consistenly good food. Somewhat expensive. This is our special occasion place to eat.
