This is a deli type setup, with fantastic food, fresh ingredients and wonderful bread. The only knock on it is limited seating that you must grab yourself. My tip is head inside, figure out what you want, then have someone else go grab a seat. When busy getting your sandwiches will take 20+ minutes, be sure to grab a table.

Our experience here was so disconcerting that we almost cancelled our dinner reservations at their restaurant, Fat Canary, for that night. Glad we didn't, read that review... but I don't get it. The place is overly crowded, and it takes 20 to 30 minutes to order and get a cold sandwich. In the meantime, you wait in a giant swarm,... More

Sandwiches are overpriced, anything additional such as cheese, etc. are additional. Small average sandwich with nothing extra, not even a pickle. They are known for their special sauce, which is good, but is just spiced up mayonaise. Lousy customer service...would not recommend or visit anymore

The selection of cheeses was overwhelming and wonderful. The service people knew their stuff. Great selection of gourmet treats. Sandwiches made in the back at very competitive prices. We shall be back

We visited the cheese shop while touring colonial Williamsburg. They had an exceptional collection of cheeses and fine foods. We sampled the cheese plate which was quite delicious though shockingly expensive, and sampled some of their other more interesting wares. We found the staff in the wine cellar downstairs to be very dis-interested in helping customers, but found the stuff... More

Best ham salad ever. Good sandwiches made to order, fast and fresh. I always have to ask twice for a fork and napkin at the register, but I always get one. Place is busy but convenient and a good value.

This was highly recommended to us by a local, and you could see why. A lot of college kids giving a flavor of the place. But - they had one line for ordering, one line for picking up your order, and a third line to pay. It was crazy. And a mass of humanity throughout. I was impressed that for... More

We eat lunch here everyday when in Williamsburg. A favorite of both us is the Virginia smoked ham, although I did change it up one day to egg salad. All of the ingredients are fresh and sandwiches are made fresh upon order. It's so good that there can be both a line to order, then a very long line to... More

Always try to pop in to get some ham biscuits to go. They are delicious and they will conveniently package them in a plastic container by the Dozen. Super tasty with salty ham and moist buttery biscuits. Perfection!

Nice beer selection, good crusty French bread and top notch cold cuts, a pretty atmosphere. Love merchants square.
