I was visiting Williamsburg with 2 other ladies, (Last year in September 2016) and they wanted to treat me to an authentic williamsburg restaurant. I Love the old look to it, the wait staff was all dressed up, plus with old time charm. One of...More

I am not as charmed by the taverns within Colonial Williamsburg as I am by their other amenities, but it is difficult to spend as much time as one might like perusing the grounds without getting hungry. It is even more difficult to find a...More

I remembered eating at Chownings in 1958, my last visit to Williamsburg, so this was a must-do for us. We came for lunch on a Thursday, and even though the town wasn't crammed with people, we had to wait quite a while. Fortunately, there's much...More

The place is a fun place to eat. You get to eat in a real old tavern with wait staff in period dress. The menu has interesting items to try. The beers and ales are local and are worth a try.

The place is fun and suggest you enjoy the table games and let yourself get absorbed in the atmosphere. Karen is a great waitress and the food, while not terrific it's very good. The staff at the front door could be a little more friendly...More

We ate at Chowning’s for lunch when in Williamsburg. The food and service was excellent! I had the Welsh Rarebit and my wife had the shepherds pie. Both were very good. We will always eat at the various restaurants at Historic Williamsburg. Bruce B

Saying they have entrees is misleading. You'll end up with a sandwich. Food is average at best. The bottled Ginger Ale was the best part. Flies in the dining room is never a good thing. Won't go back.

We ate here two nights in a row! Wonderful home made chips & dips, amazing corn chowder & Welsh rarebit! The service was also impeccable. Don’t forget to try the hot buttered rum to warm up! Yum! We will definitely return again this week!

I suggest you direct your question to the venue where you purchased your special event ticket. I only dine at Chownings at regular dining, not special events. No idea what the menu will be.
