Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So why is there a Cafe at Gravelly Beach North of launceston by 30 minutes, that serves up scrumptious food with passion? Peter Cundell’s son is the chef and his Singaporean partner is chef 2. Food inspired from passion and experience with superb wait staff...ensures a fantastic experience. BYO if you will and the decor and view of the Tamar River are wonderful.More

While the name is a bit misleading (think pies and sausage rolls and then think again as the only bakery delights are the cakes and deserts) this cafe is really well patronised and has fantastic friendly fast service, you almost feel like family. As we...had the grand kids with us we all had fish and chips but they serve curries, platters and to die for cakes and deserts yum. Nice clean toilets on site and very covid safe. Do yourself a favor and make the trip to Gravelly Beach this weekend, you won't regret it.More

We stopped by to pick up a takeaway coffee and left with delicious cake and delicious Asian food. The coffee was great and the gluten free almond rhubarb cake was moist and delicious. Both finished in the car before we drove off. We took the...$58 dinner for two offer for the evening in a airbnb. The food just had enough spice and was full of beautiful flavours. Highly recommended. It was all served to us by friendly staff who went a little bit further to make sure we knew what we were eating.More

Fantastic food and the overall service was excellent! Mark was great to chat with and the food he and Bee serve is definitely 10/10! We loved our chicken and beetroot curry, took some of their weekly curry pack home (to Melbourne) to heat through and...also muffins for ‘later’! A little piece of Asian cuisine in beautiful Tassie, we were so grateful for this find and will be visiting every time we come to over (which is often)!More

We've heard of this cafe over a year ago, and finally decided to go a little out of our way from the Meander Valley today.... and are now asking why we haven't made the effort earlier. It may have a short selection of Singapore-inspired breakfast/brunch...menu, but boy, the beautifully plated Roti Prata with Curry Chicken, and the Sambal Prawns with Pickled Veg and Basmati Rice certainly delivered umami flavours and textures!!! The best Asian-inspired cuisine we've had over our nearly 3 years in Tassie!!! And am saying it as a born and bred Singaporean (from family who've called Singapore home for 6 generations) who'd patronised an Asian restaurant only once during the 1990s I'd lived in the UK... and who've repeatedly waxed lyrical over Monsoon's food in Launceston and Hobart. And seems we aren't the only ex-Singapore diners who've commented that it serves even tastier food than what eateries dish up in Singapore itself!!! Again, not surprising... as we discovered its owners were ex-Singapore, ex-India, ex-Thailand, ex-Indonesia, ex-Taiwan before landing in Gravelly Beach 4 years ago. Obviously drawing inspiration from Singapore's historic roots in culinary fusion that'd birthed the tropical island's iconic Peranakan and Eurasian cuisines...More

We were staying at Grindelwald and we (three families) dropped in after going to a winery in the area. They accommodates us at short notice, served food quickly and all the food was excellent. It's not licensed but they will charge corkage and serve you...wine (which is a good idea given the wineries in the area). I had 'Mark's Tasting Plate' which was excellent and piled high with good stuff. Definitely recommend.More

Fantastic food & service. Generous serving of fish and lovely beer battered chunky chips. Plate for 2 as shown was lovely and plenty for 2 people with quality foods. Service perfect. Presentation great. Highly recommend! Best milkshakes.

We had heard about this place but never seemed to make the deviation from the highway. What a gem we have been missing! The place was busy when we visited but we were ushered to a table and served promptly. The scallops on pureed cauliflower...was divine and the significant other had curried scallops which were also just wonderful. Coffee was great (not scalded like some places). If you haven't ventured to Gravelly Beach then do yourself a favour and make the effort - you won't be disappointed. A suggestion though would be to book as it does get busy. We will most certainly be back!More

Lovely spot with a view across the water, friendly and quick service. The restaurant has only a few Singaporean style dishes but the regular selection is good too. I had a tasty scallop curry and partner had a really loaded bruschetta. The rendang looked good...so will return and hope to catch the rendang or another Singaporean dish on special. Indicative of the quality of the food is they make up their own sambal and it was great.More

Superb meals - delicious Scallops & Beef Rendang. Great location with very friendly owners and staff. Can see why previous TA posts are so enthusiastic. So pleased it is only 25 minutes drive from Launceston - well worth the drive. Also, excellent venue for lunch...if visiting the Tamar Valley wineries as it is BYO. Wish we had heard about it sooner - we will be back. Thank you Mark & Bee.More

Visited for brunch today but missed breakfast by a whisker. We booked for 11am - only to learn after being seated - that the enticing breakfast options were no longer on offer (breakfast stops at 11). Undeterred, my wife and I ordered coffees, a tamarind...prawn curry (special) and a chick pea, cocunut curry off the menu. The curries were served with rice and both tasty. Following this we purchased a takeaway portuguese tart and an oat raisin cake for our walk along Paper Beach. Both delicious - the buttery oat raisin cake reminded me of the rock cakes I enjoyed in my Sydney youth. Coffee was good, parking easy. Plain looking place but toilets are clean and the staff efficient and friendly. Will return for breakfast (and another oat raisin cake) on another occasion.More

I loved the generous food portion sizes. The meal was well presented and oh so tasty. The cafe was packed with locals who I was told are return customers, some traveling long distances. It was relaxing to wait for the meal while looking out over...the Tamar River.More
