looks like a fairly new place- BBQ I thought was good portions were a good amount.
wife thought it was dry tasting and did not have the flavor she expected. We both tried the BBQ sandwich meal but when they brought it out they did not bring out the Cole Slaw and my wife had to ask and then he said they were out. Will not go back as it did not give a great experience but not terrible one either. nothing special

The ambiance is great, and the people are amazing. I just fell a little short on the food. We ate it all and cleaned our plates, and it was not highly priced. I am picky about my bbq though. I know it is hard to compete with the top guys nowadays, but you have to. The brisket was way too fatty. Very greasy instead of juicy. I will return to give it another shot possibly.

Internet says otherwise but here I am on a test break traveling to VA Beach … well worth the 15 minute detour …

Pn the road looking for lunch, and Google maps, for once, misled us. When we wound up on a dead end while trying to find our first choice, Google redeemed themselves by coming up with Hillbilly Red's.
Here you will find decor that is sutdiously backwoods, a staff that's very friendly and attenteive, anf pulled pork that my wife--a pulled pork fan--said was the best ever. I was not equally moved but I agree that the food was great. The sandwih was generous, and you get to sauce it to taste with one ofour options--Carolina vinegar style, Aunt Lily's (wife's favorite), Taxas hot, and their own Hillbilly Red's, which is what I used. The sandwich comes with some nice crinkle fries and a little bit of good cole slaw.

I try BBQ everywhere I travel and this was the worst!! Poor service, poor food quality, think about what other people might like and not just what you guys like!

Just stopped by for dinner while visiting family in town. The food was delicious and the owners were beyond hospitable. These people made us all feel like family! I would highly recommend stopping by!

Great local BBQ place. Not fancy or complicated but good simple food. Perfect for lunch while traveling in the area. Convenient to the highway even if it might not look like it on the map.

Stopped by on a work trip to Richmond, when stopped in for a late lunch. Asked the guy at the counter what he thought was good- he said everything..... I said ok, what would you order if you were ordering for yourself. Brisket, he says. Well, he didn't disappoint. Some of the best brisket I've ever eaten!!!

This places looks nice from the outside. The bbq sandwiches are not worth the price,& were the worst i ever had. Its bad when a gas station bbq sandwich is better than a place that specializes in bbq.

Love this place. People are friendly. Servings are large. BBQ is smoky and moist. 3 sauces at the table plus some hot sauce. Been going here for years.

Everybody was very friendly. They piled the barbecue on the sandwiches, very filling. The macaroni & cheese was good too. You get a lot for your money. Would definitely eat here again.

The weather was dreary but the bbq was comforting and just the right kind of hot. The slaw was crunchy and creamy, and the corn bread sweet with a pat of butter. The blues of the day vanished inside Hillbilly Red’s Barbeque sit-down cafe. Thanks for the cheerful welcome and great food topped with a choice of three kinds of sauce and the ever-present Texas Pete hot sauce!
