We flew in from Cleveland for one night. The menu had such a nice verity of offerings so we decided to give it a try. My baked ziti was absolutely delicious. Pasta was cooked perfect and the meat sauce was very nice. It was a deep red color with a great tomato taste. The meet was very tender and was the right amount for the sauce. My husband had the meat ravioli. His sauce was the same as I had and he really enjoyed it. My mom got the chef salad. Due to her very advanced age, she didn’t eat much of the salad. (She eats several small meals throughout the day) She did say a few times how fresh the salad and vegetables were. The dinner rolls were very soft inside. I can’t say that I know if they were house made or bought, but they tasted like they were hand made from scratch in house. Mom ended up taking one roll with the ham and turkey from her salad to make a sandwich for tomorrows lunch. I was very tired and hungry and I looked at Roberto’s menu and decided to go. I didn’t read any reviews like I usually do. Im so very pleased that I chose Roberto’s. The staff were also very welcoming and very attentive. Next trip to this area I will stop back for dinner

Great spot near our hotel

We came here before we flew out of. Virginia the following day. The food here was very tasty and came out fast. One person had the California pizza which was really good, the rest had, tortellini, Alfredo, and lobster ravioli. All of it was good and the staff was very friendly. The pasta didn’t taste boxed which was great.

Great Italian food!

We stopped in not expecting much and were pleasantly suprised! We not only found great food, the service was great too! We had an appetizer with our entrées and it was all delicious. It's a small restaurant, nothing fancy but very clean and the owner was waiting tables. He was very upbeat and helpful to everyone. I wish we lived closer! If you are looking for a good Italian meal at very reasonable prices you need to give this place a try! I don't think you'll be sorry! He's closed the month of July for vacation. He's going back to visit his home country and get more recipes!

I should have known that the better restaurants are near the better hotels and kept driving. The restaurant was clean and the service ok. I ordered the Chicken parmesan with spaghetti and a glass of pinot noir. I choked down almost half the wine, but it tasted horribly cheap. While my dinner would have served 2 people, the chicken tasted like it had come frozen and the sauce bland even though they tried to improve it by sprinkling basil on the top. Pass by this restaurant.

Excellent food, great people!

We've been coming to Roberto for a few months now & every single experience has been 100% positive! The specials are great, the regular menu items are wonderful. You've got to try the Limoncello Cake & their gelato! So good! Large portions, we always have leftovers. The lunch menu is good, as well. My boyfriend has tried almost everything on the menu & it's all been good. Their pizzas are really good too! Do yourself a favor & stop in if you're in the area!

Really Good Italian Food!!

Was in the area, dropping a friend off at the airport and I was really in the mood for pizza, so I checked the interwebs and found this place – the reviews were great so we stopped in. They actually have real Italian food made and served by real Italians! I say that because many places these days are owned/run by others who know how to make Italian cuisine, but most all the time, they don’t do it very well. This place definitely knows how to do it very well!! I got a large “Roberto Special” pizza with jalapeño added. Also got a chicken marsala and a chicken parm… friend ate the marsala and loved it. We both absolutely loved the pizza! I tried the chicken parm later for dinner and it was really good! Nice size chicken breasts and a very tasty sauce. They even have a robot that helps the servers deliver food to the table, such a fun thing to watch! Highly recommend stopping in… I’ll definitely be back when in the area!

Has gone downhill!

They were not that busy & they just did not have enough help. Once we ordered, it took about 45 minutes before we ever got our food. The waiter was doing the best that she could. It was the kitchen that was the big holdup. The pizza was not the best by a long shot. We got a Roberto's Special, it was supposed to have sausage, pepperoni, onions, green peppers & mushrooms. I didn't see any sausage & very few pepperoni's. It was mainly all onions & green peppers. Won't be going there any time soon.

Surprise, this place is great.

Holy cow this is the best kept secret in Richmond. We were driving by and stopped by for lunch. Super friendly staff. Very friendly and helpful. Ravioli with a link of sausage was just like grandma used to make it. The lasagna was also a hit but I didn't get to taste it. Portions are generous. We live 90 minutes away but will be regulars from here on out. I can't wait to come back.

Unexpected great find

We were stuck in Richmond due to the cancellation of our flight and chose to stay at an airport hotel down the block from Roberto. We walked about two blocks to get there and were a little hesitant because it is nestled in front of a hotel which is not the most attractive. We entered anyway and were immediately greeted by staff. The room was welcoming and immaculate. This was clearly a family oriented restaurant. My wife had lobster ravioli and I ordered the chicken marsala. The portions were very large and they were both excellent. They have a wine and beer list which complemented the meals. Our server and the manager (? owner) checked with us several times to make sure everything was good. The dishes were so filling that we had no room for dessert. Don't worry, we took our cannoli to go! If I lived in the area this would be a destination restaurant for me.

Authentic Italian

Stopped in for dinner the night before flying out of the airport on an early flight. Very convenient to the airport, and the hotel we were staying at. They were not very busy at all, which seemed odd for a Sunday, but they did seem to be doing a pretty good take-out business. My wife had the Hawaiian pizza, which was pretty good. I had the Penne ala vodka, which was awesome. But seemed pretty authentic, as did the entire menu. The menu is HUGE which made for tough decisions, but I would definitely come back to try other items. Service was good, and the place seemed clean to me. Give this one a try next time you're flying out of RIC. Much better than anything you'll get in the airport.

Family Visit

In town for a wedding with a large family group. Restaurant handled the large group with ease. Food was typical Italian, nothing special. But it was good and plentiful. My wife's entree of chicken parmigiano provided three meals. Great service, very helpful.

Don't Miss

Stopped here after my flight into Richmond (only about 5 min from airport). Don't let the exterior in this tiny town fool you-the food was gourmet quality. Very casual surroundings but delicious (the cocktail was also great).

Well worth a stop

Great food, large portions, excellent service (some of it provided by a VERY COOL ROBOT!!!), and reasonable prices. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant. We're from out of state, and we consider ourselves very fortunate to have eaten here on our way through Virginia.

I had the pasta with vodka sauce. It is good. It went well with the chianti although the wine was filled to the brim instead of the proper amount where the glass can be swirled and get a better taste of the wine. Big servings by the way so come hungry; May consider going back.

Basic decor but great Italian food. Great music (Frank, Dean etc) Phenominal food. Owner is awesome. Got to meet Bella (Robot Server. Yes Robot) Every table around us loved their food and the experience. Would reccomend to anyone coming through Richmond.
