Good Salsa

Heading south and stopped in Richmond area for the night and interested in a good meal... the staff at The Patron was friendly and efficient, the salsa and chips great, the beer selection covered a lot of ground, but the food was a disappointment. We both had fajitas and the veggies were tasteless and the meat dry and overcooked. Will need to try something different on the menu next time.

Delicious food

We ate here twice and were happy both times. The margaritas were well prepared with multiple flavors to choose from. The table side quacamole was excellent. The fajitas were very good. The chips and red sauce were a hit. Very good service.

EXCELLENT Mexican Restaurant

Was in Richmond for the Nascar race. Had to gas up the rental car before I returned it. Saw The Patron and decided to have lunch Great good and great service In addition to the usual chips and salsa , The Patron has a delicious white sauce that they make onsite. Lunch specials are good and reasonably priced. Pictured are the chips and salsa and a Burrito Especial from the lunch menu Definitely a come back place when I return I'm August

Horrible trip here!! We had a group of 14. The person taking our order didn’t know English and we had to point to our food. We had 7 diffrent checks. Instead of them bringing our bills we had to pay at a separate cash register that was not at the front. It was my husbands birthday and his mother had paid for his and mine .We all had valpak coupons for each party. First of all they would not let us use our valpak coupons. Their excuse was that it was per table but that was wrong as well because we have had a few groups there before and it was no problem. Again our bills were separated into 7 parties . 2 sets of food wasn’t right but we ate it anyway because it was too hard to make them understand. We left a little earlier before the last 3 paid because my husbands mother paid for his birthday meal and mine as well. Apparently at the register again they everybody had to point at what they got. We have a lot of very nice backward people in our family that do not like confrontation my son and my husbands brother are those people. They were the last set of 2 to pay. Not to mention the whole group was in line for an hour at best to pay their totals!! My son was the very last and for him and his girlfriend his bill was $250 and all they had was a meal and 2 beer. He paid it though. I wish I had know what all was going on and I would have stayed and would have ask to speak to a manager and my poor son wouldn’t be out his money. I felt so sorry for him . Moral of the story don’t go here with a large group it will be a nightmare you won’t forget!! The food was good but the service was horrible with no refills and mix up on the food and that bill . Guess patrons made a good little lick off of us not letting us use but one $5 coupon for 7 parties and charging an out of the blue extra $200 that should not have been on there because all our bills were paid and were supposedly distributed correctly after our approval till they got to the last one !! Shame on this place we been coming here for years and wanted to have a birthday party ! What a disaster

Bad news

The service was horrible. They never Checked on us, made a mistake on our bill, and refused to correct it. Very disappointed in the food. The taco salad was probably 6 inches across and 2 inches deep. The menu didn’t say that it was a mini salad at a full salad price.

Terrible customer service if something’s amiss

Typical average Mexican food. Okay as long as you don’t have a problem, as other reviewers have said. I asked the server about the size of a drink, and she told me it was 16 ounces, so I ordered it…only to receive a drink that was 8 ounces. When I attempted to send it back and order a different (more expensive) drink a manager came over and said I HAD TO TAKE IT, and then — in a condescending, dismissive way — said he would pour it into a bigger glass and put whipped cream on it (same sized drink, just add ice and a bigger glass). There are too many other options to take your chances with such poor service.

Would not recommend!

We had poor customer service during our visit. Our waitress lied to us and was rude after we decided to split a meal. We made this decision on a late evening with a early flight out and didn't want left overs. The food was mediocre and therefore the unpleasant experience just made it worth letting people know!

My fear of the other bad reviews happened to me

We asked for Skinny Margaritas. We were charged for a $22 Paloma. And they refused to fix this mistake. Our waiter was a guy working behind the bar. HE WAS SO RUDE and our drinks tasted like they had no alcohol in them. We will never recommend this place and never return.

Avoid the fish tacos

I'm staying nextdoor without a car so it was an easy choice. Service was fine as was the margarita. My fish tacos weren't edible. Of three on the plate, only one had a reasonable portion of fish. The other two were thin like a piece of overcooked leather. I hope the photos show how thin they were. Reminded me of beef jerky.Rice, beans and pico were fine.

Don’t waste your money on the margaritas

Took family to dinner for 1st visit to restaurant. Food was typical Mexican fare. Service was good. The $27 pitcher of frozen margarita was terrible. I don’t think there was any liquor in it at all. Too sweet. I can get my favorite pitcher at muchos buenos for $17.95 and it’ll kick your pants. So don’t patronize the Patron with you money for their sorry drinks.

Good, not great

We had dinner at The Patron while staying next door. It was somewhat late and this was what we needed. We were seated right away. The menu was typical for this type of restaurant and the food was decent. My chile' relleno was pretty good but the enchilada was rolled to order but not baked. It could have been better. Prices are very reasonable.

Solid Tex-Mex in Richmond

Got off the plane from Texas - the Mecca of Tex-Mex - and immediately stopped here as it was getting late and we were hungry. We didn't have high expectations, but we definitely came away well pleased! The chips were great and thick. Salsa was ok, but a bit sweet without the kick. Went with a couple tacos and they could hold their own with many taquerias in Texas. Well done! I'll return if we land in the state again.

Great food and service

We were traveling and stopped to eat at The Patron. First, love the interior decor and the atmosphere. Second, the service was friendly and quick. Love the chips, salsa and another dipping sauce that I have never had before. The two dinners we ordered were delicious. When we are back in that area we will go back.

Nice mexican restaurant by airport across from Homewood Suites

Stayed at Homewood Suites next door and stopped in for dinner, service was good and food was as well. Had your usual huge Mexican food menu, all the normal options. Would definitely return!

Good food and experience.

I read the reviews and hesitated but decided to go. My experience was very good. Super fast service and accurate and delicious food. Portion size was also plentiful. I was on the lookout for rude disinterested staff but thought they were fine. I could seea bit of a cultural devide as most of the staff spoke to each other in their native language and some were hard to understand in English. Overall I was pleased.
