Fresh and authentic food with takeout options available. Tip drive carefully or your food will shift based on the styrofoam container packaging; my food ended up in my bag which slightly diminished my experience but the intense flavor of the food made up for it. Try the salmon and shrimp skewers.

Stopped here (the Laburnum location) overnighting as refugees from DC. We took out a Ranchero Salad, Ceviche mixto, and a side of coleslaw. The (chicken) salad and slaw were good and ample. The mixto was a perfect balance of fish, shrimp, bay scallops, pulpo and spicy marinade (which didn’t over spice the seafood). But the star was the sweet potato side, simmered in cider and canela. Wonderful.

The food is always hot, fresh and extremely delicious!! We love to get as takeaway. Our family enjoys the whole chicken and sides. The fried rice, black beans, pinto beans, green beans and red potatoes are our favorite sides. The lamb gyro is excellent! We also love the empanadas. You cannot go wrong here.

Brand new in Richmond. Delicious food. Huge portion. I had the Antichuko chicken. 3 gigantic skewers of chicken. Large scoop of rice and beans. Too many plantains for 2 meals. Green and white sauce both flavorful. I heard that the wok chicken was good and the gyro was different and enjoyable too.

One of the best peruvian restaurants in the Richmond area, Canastas Peruvian Chicken delivers from beginning to end. I am so gald that I was able to find this place through TripAdvisor recently. The quality, service, great prices, and casual dining compliments this place and makes it one to visit again. I was able to try after so many years, the heart kabobs and they were amazing. If you are not up to trying it, there is always the rotisserie chicken that is amazing and other authentic peruvian plates that looked amazing from other guests that were there. People come in and out from this place and seems to be quite popular with locals. I will definitely be coming back when I have a flight in RIC and will highly recommend it!

I wish I had looked at the photos more carefully. I failed to note that the dishes come with plastic utensils, and would rather have brought it home as take-out. The food, however, while strange to me in flavor, was very well prepared and we all enjoyed it. I took another reviewer's suggestion and had the yucca instead of fries, and am glad I did that, but next time would be sure that it was freshly made. Mine was only medium warm and a bit limp--but an interesting texture and flavor nevertheless. I am not fond of things spicy-hot, and enjoyed the food here as being different and interesting, but not too hot for me. There were quite a few people there, looked like a neighborhood gathering place. The staff was very friendly and nice and we enjoyed not having to wait until we got home--but next time would sacrifice that for the pleasure of eating on real plates with proper utensils. I don't believe they serve alcohol there in any form, if that is important to you.

Great food! Very good service, reasonable prices, adequate parking. Near the Richmond airport. Try the yucca(YOU-cah). It's better than fries. Chicken is very good, but they have lots of other choices as well. Great sauces to dip stuff in.

Found this little place while on business in VA. Their food is great! I had the rotisserie chicken with yucca and rice. Excellent. They also have more traditional perviuan dishes. Totally recommend this place.

This little out of the way place has delicious food. Four people in our group and everyone was happy with their food. The service was great and the prices are moderate. Will definitely be returning to eat here.

Very friendly staff and excellent food. For appetizers we tried the papa rellena (stuffed potato) and the anticucho de corazon- both were very well prepared and tasty. Main courses we went with the pork chops and the carne asada. Again, very well prepared and very satisfying. If you want lots of great food, give this eatery a try!

We stumbled into Canastas Peruvian Chicken after seeing some good reviews. We decided to go in and get takeout. The location does have seating but we still decided to get takeout. We ordered the whole chicken with sides. The food we had was awesome. We will definitely be going back.

It was a slow Wed night with only one table taken when we stopped in for a post flight dinner although they did seem to be doing a brisk takeout service. The cashier was amazed that I knew what comprised the cheese sauce for the papas which were very good. The yucca was some of the best I have ever had - I was told it was fresh not frozen with the vein taken out, steamed, then fried; it was crisp on the outside and tender in. The chicken was one degree below Fiesta Chicken but almost as good. The string beans were phenomenal and the green rice was very tasty. The green sauce is HOT, the yellow milder but still spicy - just right for dipping. Several days after eating at Canastas my daughter drove from the west side of Richmond to get the yucca and string beans even though she lives about a mile from Fiesta Chicken which is one of her favorite places for takeout. This will definitely be a must stop when I fly into Richmond.

The cilantro chicken is so good. I like all the side dishes they offer. Typically, one order is enough for two meals for me. It is a good place to eat or to go. Highly recommend it.
