...would be no reason to stay a night there,....no nice walks, nothing.... Abbott the food: I had a mushroom burger, the only vegetarian option. Was ok, ....between average and good. The fries was acceptable. My partner eat the shrimps fettuccine,.... I said before, my partner eat no meat , only fish,...But it came with a weird sausage, she was really... More

We ordered off the starter menu and were informed that they did not have two of what we wanted. We ordered fish and chips instead and it came with one piece of fish where other people were getting two. All in all it felt very much like they did not want us there. Later on a bunch of patched gang... More

Great location. We stopped for a drink after a long walk. Not overly friendly staff but there was a wedding on. Outside seating and good views.

Best thing is the location- in the middle of nowhere, at the mouth of Lake Onoke with a view of the lake, the sea and the mountains. Also there are no other options unless you brought a picnic. But the services is non-existent order food from the bar when someone deigns to serve you, surly and unhelpful. And when the... More

The waiter/ barman really wasn't that interested in taking our order and the food (fish and chips) arrived before my pot of tea. My partner said the draught beer was some of the worst he'd had in NZ. The fish and chips were OK and the chocolate brownie for pudding was good, but we wouldn't rush to go back, there... More

Fabulous big hearty meals. My hubby had the famous lake ferry fish and chips and they were delicious. I had snapper on pea and prawn risotto and it was fabulous. Several people were having the flounder . Great place to sit out on the deck in the sun while eating tea and watching the sun go down over the water.

I remember about 10 years ago enjoying the ambiance of this place for lunch. This was not the case this time. It was hard to tell if we were in the right entrance. The ordering place seemed like a hall - boring. We gave our orders -not much fish choice -some had meatballs -not as good as subway. our empty... More

A stop for lunch proved to be quite enjoyable with tasty meal. The ambience is a little disappointing after the rave reports. The service was friendly and prompt.

There's something magical about this historic hotel and its location at the end of the world (or so it feels). It's well worth booking in for both a meal and accommodation so you cN hang around to watch the sunset and then the stars. It's a pretty special spot. There was a power cut when we were there which greatly... More

went to the hotel as I had heard it was great to have fish and chips there.. well if that is their signature dish they do not put much effort in it.. chips were meh.. and a bit under cooked.. fish was greasy.. but the hotel had great views.. nice fire and good atmosphere..
