This is the newest iteration of what was once my favourite cafe in the Perth region. The location is unbeatable, looking out to the iconic Scarborough beach, and on a perfect day like today, you wouldn't want to be anywhere else. The staff were efficient and there was certainly a friendly and relaxed vibe overall. We had come for brunch, and while the menu is not extensive, it covers all the bases and prices were quite reasonable. The coffee arrived quickly, and while not great, was inoffensive. The food also arrived quite quickly, in spite of the crowd, so that was a pleasant surprise. However, the food was kind of disappointing. I had a haloumi and mushroom sandwich. The mushrooms were grilled, but slimy, the haloumi was kind of pale and skimpy, and the rocket was looking a little tired in parts. Unfortunately, the bottom half of the Turkish bread was hard and stale, and completely inedible. My companion had similar problems with the mushrooms on her big breakfast being slimy and tasteless and was not impressed with the spinach or beans, either. To their credit, though, the cafe did not bill me for my meal, thus restoring good will, and I do understand that sometimes things do go wrong. Next time I'm in the area, I'll be more inclined to give them a second chance.

This is a fabulous location right alongside the Scarborough beach front. This is why people usually flock here in large crowds. Hence, there is limited seating availability unless you're lucky enough to get a table as someone leaves. Obviously, due to popularity there is no need for them to keep pricing down. Actually they make pricing look reasonable by offering smaller serves (both beer & food). They serve schooners instead of pints at about $11 and their entree sized main serves of pub food. Its ok for a quick overpriced drink but move on shortly afterwards to more affordable pricing in other nearby restaurants Don't get me wrong, location is is best feature and worth a quick stop.

Decided to meet a friend here for lunch on a rainy Tuesday afternoon with the wife as it was central for both parties. While the weather was average our experience wasn't. They have a good selection on both the food and drinks levels (especially beer). Friendly service, not overly expensive considering their location and the food was served in good time and was pretty good, although the wife wasn't particularly enamoured with the batter in the fish tacos (crumbed is always preferred.) Would drop in here for lunch again no problem at all :)

Met up with some friends for lunch as we heard good reviews about the place. We had a drink while waiting for the rest of the group. Nice location and very clean although we all noticed that only one staff member was smiling and looked happy. One lady said her mojito as too bitter to drink and the other two ladies just watered it down. Anyway we ordered our food and even though it wasn't too busy, we were still impressed that the food arrived so promptly. The ladies with the parmi, the crab salad, the lamb skewers and the chicken burger said their food was lovely. The lady who ordered the squid said there was only a couple of pieces and not even sonething to share. Unfortunately the two people who had the chilli mussels could not finish them as it was way too salty. One lady pushed to eat half but passed the bowl for the six persons to try. All struggled after the second mouthful. When we advised the staff the reply was that they didn't add salt so it wasn't them. I regularly have chilli mussels and I have never tasted anything as salty as this. We decided to move onto dessert. There wasn't much of a range. So only 4 ladies ordered. 2xpanna cottas, one kids size sundae and the dessert pizza. The pizza came out in no time but was not impressive. As a dessert it was not sweet at all and the presentation was not appetising. It was a normal pizza base with ricotta and canned cherries and a couple of strawberries. We were expecting it topped with fresh berry mix not canned cherries. That dish too, was left unfinished. Meanwhile we had now waited 20 mins for the other desserts and it was no longer busy at all. Another 10 mins went by and still no desserts but the waitress said they were sorry and not charging us fdeforsserts but it would still be about 10 mins away. We contemplated leaving anyway but decided we would hang on. No idea why the pizza came out so quickly yet it took 30mins to put some peanut brittle on a single scoop of Ice cream! But at least when it did arrive, the ladies said the sundae and panna cotta tasted ok. Not fantastic, just ok. Definitely put me off going again let alone taking people there. There are so many other places in Perth to try out.

Stopped here for breakfast on the public holiday Monday after being at the dog beach and were lucky enough to score a table right out the front. Located right on the Scarborough roundabout looking out over the amphitheater and across to the ocean this place is ideal to waste away an hour or so watching the world go by. The staff were very friendly and brought a water bowl and treat over for our dog that sat under our table. Good selection of breakfasts with a few different things (eg corned beef potato hash with fried egg, or a haloumi & mushroom burger) and all the usuals, including some cold pressed juices, all at reasonable prices. Coffee was good too.

Average pizzas and world’s most expensive beer and drinks. Coming from Sydney I’m used to expensive beers but $13.50 for a small glass of Asahi is extortionate. Lacking any generosity whatsoever - I asked for a jug of lemonade for kids and was told they only sell by the glass. Pizza bases were pre made and dry and cardboard like, particularly margarita. Crab salad was good. Bar staff almost entirely English backpackers. If you are looking for an Aussie beach pub go to Cottesloe or come to Sydney!!

This pub is situated on a corner facing the ocean and provides a great opportunity to watch the sunset. It is extremely popular so getting a table is very hard unless you stand and wait for some time to be quick enough to grab a table that is vacated. Drinks are a bit pricey as they sell schooners at prices of pints. In saying that $12 for a schooner is equivalent to a $15 pint at an overpriced bar. Food was average with pizza having limited topping for $27. You really are paying for the location. There was live music but so loud that you couldn't talk. It was ok but wouldn't rush back.

We ate here twice during our short stay at Scarborough Beach. The food quality and portion sizes were very good and the atmosphere is welcoming. Prices are a little higher than local eateries close by but we thought the extra was worth it. Recommended

Called in Friday night for dinner, though very busy we were seated promptly, dinner arrived 15min after ordering. Pub grub parmi was great, big serving and the best chips ever. Dinner pals had soup of the day and a burger. Both very happy with those meals. If you find a seat, call in - you won’t regret it.

Very busy even mid afternoon, but plenty of seating inside. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered a pizza and my partner had the fish and chips, both dishes were shared. The pizza was excellent, great toppings and fresh from the fire. The fish and chips were battered (grilled is available) but a little over cooked.

After a very disappointing visit to Bay Bays at Scarborough last night we decided to try our luck at the Sandbar. Multiple visits to this establishment have resulted in the friendliest staff, fantastic service always with a smile and awesome food every time. I can highly recommend the Pizzas and the Chicken Palmy is fantastic value for money. Do not leave without trying a Toblerone Cocktail - One of the best in Perth. I know where our loyalty lies.

The Sandbar is indeed an old cornerstone of Scabs Beach life, but it has gone down hill a bit. Having visited the Sandbar several times since 2012, my last visit left a "foul taste" in my mouth. Note: this is NOT a negative review of the staff, per se, rather a direct reflection on the lack of leadership and supervision at the Sandbar as of late. The food and drink are of the usual great quality, but the flies are a pest in a restaurant! The flies come from the filth and stains of food and drink rests on the old turf carpet, all over the tables, and on the stools outside. Also, even with fewer actual guests, the food takes a while to arrive. The Sandbar has decided to serve only schooner-size drinks, but at the pint prices of their competitors. Seems as if the FOMO crowd keep them afloat now!

I booked the Sandbar for Christmas Lunch after I had taken my elderly mother there one day and seeing the brochure for the lunch. I booked online and was looking forward to the day with my partner and mother. On arrival, the staff looked around for our table and then they pointed to a table right near the door. A tiny bar table with 3 backless bar stools. I said to the waitress that we could not sit there as my mother is very short and could not possibly get onto a bar stool. My mother is over 80, has osteoporosis and uses a stick for support. I was told that I should have let them know my table preference and that I had been given opportunities to do so. I booked a table for Christmas lunch! It didn't enter my mind that we would be given bar stools and a bar table. The waitress handed the situation to the manager who was less than helpful and basically said , well too bad, you should have stated your preference. I said that we would have to leave and I would like to have the $360 refunded. All I got from the female manager was what I should have done. Yes. OK. Maybe I should have. Being in a management position myself for many years now, I was less than impressed with her authoritarian attitude. She did not try and think of ways to solve the issue. A young waitress brought over another bar stool, but with a back and we attempted to get my mother onto the stool. (She didn't want to leave and make a scene, where I was more than prepared to leave). It was humiliating watching her try to get up on the chair. I felt humiliated for my mother. She was in pain and had tears in her eyes when she finally got onto the stool. To top off this terrible experience, the food was below average. It was pre-cooked, barely warm and tasteless. It was the worst Christmas lunch we have ever had at a restaurant. Getting my mother off the stool was another humiliating moment for me and I am sure it was for her. I have been to the Sandbar on many occasions over the years, but I will not be going back.

My Fiancé and I hosted our engagement party in the function room at the Sandbar this past weekend and had an absolutely seamless experience. We ordered a range of canapés which were all delicious (the sliders were my personal fav) and put on a bar tab for our guests for the night. We felt we really received good value for our money. Lauren even went that extra mile and made us personalised laminated menus to show our guests what drinks were available for the night which really impressed us. The function area was great with one entire wall open to the terrace, really opening up the space. We had 75 guests and there was plenty of room for us all. I could not recommend the Sandbar enough for a function. They even set up our decorations for us and packed them down that evening for pick up the next day.
