We arrived in Perth on the day lockdown was declared. So with two toddlers in the car for an outing we drove to Cottesloe to have a “car picnic” and got fish and chips from the Blue Duck. The fish was battered and crunchy, the...chips were perfectly done and we also got a serve of calamari which was salt and pepper squid that was delicious! Fast and friendly service too. Would highly recommend!More

We sat ignored for 30 minutes before being attended to. The restaurant was not busy, while we waited. We then waited too long for the 3 drinks we ordered. Two of us had Lobster Thermidor which was good. The third meal was Thai fishcake salad....Very disappointing. Zero flavour. The most flavour was the coriander. Everything just took too long. We wanted to order desert but waited so long for them to bring a menu and then to take an order. The restaurant is right on the beach. It was a beautiful day. The windows looking out on the ocean and beautiful day we’re very dirty. They need to be cleaned daily as it is on the coast with resulting sea and salt atmosphere. Won’t be going back.More

Went on what was a relatively busy morning...tables were 3/4 full when we arrived. Waitress asked for our drinks order as we sat at the table and then didn’t return for 15 minutes to take our food order (we were very hungry and trying hard...to get their attention). When they finally came to take our order we were told they were sold out of what the kids wanted so we asked for a minute to pick something else. After another 10 minutes of (again) trying very hard to get their attention I walked over to a waitress and asked that our order be taken. Drinks took 20 minutes and food around another 40 minutes. When we went to pay they had added someone else’s meals and drinks to our bill. Beautiful view and the food was nice but overall a disappointing experience.More

This was my first visit to The Blue Duck and I was impressed with the overall experience. Location is brilliant - overlooking North Cottesloe beach. We had an outside table on the 'balcony' area so the views were great. Staff were all very good from...go to whoa. The food offering was surprisingly good value. My surfers brekky was only $14 and consisted of two poached eggs, ciabatta toast, tomato, bacon, two hash browns etc.. Eggs on toast was $11. The meal wasn't anything super flash but filled the bill. My wife's coffee was hot and strong without any bitterness. Top class, apparently. My pot of tea was fine. The only negative was that we weren't offered/given water as a matter of course even though we did see some around. I guess if we had have asked it would have been provided. Nice venue, great value. We'd go again.More

Went for breakfast with friends on what was admittedly a very busy morning. Waited a long time to order, then waited a long time for our drinks, then waited a long time for our food. My food arrived lukewarm. Nobody came back to check on...the table for about 10 minutes, the waitress who came offered to reheat my meal (!!) - I declined and asked for plain toast. A couple of minutes later the original meal (that I didn't ask for) arrived back reheated - the same piece of toast, the same hash brown with a bite missing etc etc. Again nobody came back to back to check on the table for a while, the next waitress to come came to clear the plates. I explained the situation to her and she was very apologetic and professional. About a minute later a lady who I assume was the manager came over and tried to make ME feel guilty about the situation! I was asked if I had tried EVERYTHING on the plate (i.e. was it ALL lukewarm), and she told me that she was disappointed that I had "waited so long" to bring the issue to the staff's attention - despite the fact that I had made my issues known every time a staff member came to our table! She was very open about the fact that she had reheated my original meal and not made a fresh one. I have worked in cafes and restaurants before and I am absolutely astounded at this attitude - you NEVER reheat a customer's meal if it is served cold!! She then made it sound like she was making a special exception by taking my meal off the bill, but that "next time..." - I politely reassured her there would be no next time! I have never felt so belittled as a customer before. Please do not give this place your business when there are so many other restaurants in the area who treat their customers with respect.More

Went there with a friend Saturday lunch. 4 patrons inside about 6 outside. We ordered tap water. I ordered the lamb cutlets. 3 cutlets served. One tough so I left it: the other bit tough also so I only ate half, with difficulty. The third...cutlet was a bit thinner & less tough so I could eat it. Cost $36.50! I commented to the waitress that the cutlets were tough: she said she'd let the chef know! When we went to pay, the bill showed that we also charged $4 for the tap water. Unbeknown to us, the waitress had brought up still water in an opened blue bottle even though we'd asked for tap water with ice. As we had added lime wedges in our glasses, we didn't notice that we were drinking still water. We asked that the $4 be removed from the bill. The manager, with a stern face, refused to do so saying " well you drank it all!!". With that, I mentioned the toughness of the lamb cutlets & was told " well you ate it all: ..". What is going on with blue duck? Arguing about 4 lousy dollars? come on! It used to be a great place: good food & reasonably good service. NOT NOW. They're banned.More

The views remain stunning. The atmosphere is gone though. It’s too clinical, too cold. But still a good place to go. Went with a work group, which worked well, had a great couple of hours of banter. The food was ok, the staff very friendly...and even supported us all paying separate, bill split through nr of people!More

The service was poor. The waitress was rude and unattentive. We had to waive someone down to order and were not served again after that. We wanted coffee and dessert but were not asked. We had to get up from our table and look for...someone to take our order but ended up ordering straight from the barista who was behind the bar. The pasta and vegan loaf were reasonable but I wouldn't return based on the service. The view is beautiful but if you're looking for a nice beach side meal, there are plenty of other decent options nearby.More
