Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The food was very good, but the service was unbelievably bad, we had to physically get up to get someone’s attention to order a second beer, there was a hostess that all she did is sit people and 4 on the floor staff , with...a total of six tables, we had to ask for our wine glasses to be refilled every single time, the two tables next to us were getting up to the bar to ask for service, then about 3 pm the restaurant manager came to clear our table but we were halfway through our cheese platter, must of been time to go home, my empty coffee cup sat on the table for one hour before I asked for it to be cleared, we spent $600 for four people, to charge these prices you expect a better serviceMore

A memorable Valentine’s Day dinner but for all the wrong reasons. Advertised as a ‘meticulously crafted 4 course meal’. Their website didn’t say anywhere that it was a set menu and even had a sample menu button underneath the book now button. There was no...choice of meal and the set menu wasn’t disclosed in advance. Canapés were ok with the exception of the smoked eel. Entree was lovely - heirloom tomato tart. Mains were trout and duck of which I eat neither. The chef wouldn’t offer an alternative until several other diners complained as well. The alternatives were beetroot tortellini and celeriac risotto. Both were presented nicely but very salty. Dessert looked nice but lacked flavour. 17 people in the restaurant and 2 floor staff but we couldn’t get another drink or a water refill. We asked the waiter but the drinks never appeared. After an hour and 45 mins we ended up helping ourselves to water. Definitely not the quality we remember from a couple of years ago. The red rose and the mini box of chocolates on the table were a nice touch. The whole evening was disappointing and underwhelming especially given the cost of $119 per person. Yering Station next door is so much better!More

Where does one start? Beautiful setting inside the original dining room of this 19th century hotel. Gorgeous garden views extending out to the yarra valley mountains provide the perfect backdrop to an amazing dining experience. The food and service from the team was exceptional. One...of the best fine dining experiences we have had.More

My husband and I ate at Eleonore’s last night and what a highlight of our visit to the Yarra Valley. From the breads, sourdough and focaccia, to a range of small ‘snacks’ to get us started we were set on a path to a fabulous...evening. A very interesting 5 course menu followed and how did they make “corn tortellini” which sounded interesting, taste exquisite. Who would have thought of a dry aged trout ? Not me but it was great. I just loved the not too sweet Strawberry Tart. We indulged in an array of different wines to match the various courses, all of which were new to us. Very friendly and super helpful staff. I would go again today if I could.More

We went for a wine matched dinner. The decor and furnishings are shabby and neglected. The food was awful. The best part of the meal was the bread and dukkah and the olives. Dreary canapes, tasteless scallops crudo, disgusting sweet corn ravioli, unidentifiable sloppy seafood...dollops on undercooked saffron “risotto “, tough lamb swamped in a strange sweet pepper sauce and underwhelming sugary dessert. The Yarra Valley wines were very good but did not match at all well with the food, and in fact the food (if you could actually eat it) sabotaged the taste of the fine wines. On complaining midway through the meal we were offered a free drink or cocktail which we refused as we would have preferred to get the fine dining as promised. It didn’t happen. We will definitely never return.More

We wanted a special space to have lunch with an old friend from overseas and chose Eleanor’s and are very glad we did. It was four days after Christmas (we booked a few days earlier) and we couldn’t get a table until 2:00 PM but...no worries. The place was packed. All the staff were welcoming and though stretched, provided good service. There was a choice of two courses for $75 or three for $90. Our starters were delicious pork belly with truffle arancini, quail with Asian herbs and sesame, and a zucchini flower stuffed crab (a bit under seasoned). Our mains were all very good, the fish of the day with fennel and potato, duck sausage with pistachio, orange balsamic and pancetta, and chicken roulade with citrus stuffing, confit duck, leek and potato. And we got a side of terrific crispy roast rosemary garlic potatoes ($16), more than enough to share. The 2021 Yering Station Pinot Noir ($60/bottle) was a tasty accompaniment. With floor to ceiling glass (proving lovely vistas) and concrete floors, and a full house, it was a bit loud. But that won’t deter us from returning.More

Have been before a long time ago and yes time changes everything. We had the tasting menu which is extremely expensive for what it is . No signature dish and none that I could recommend to Friends , the service was way below for what...one would expect from a fine dining establishment and the waiters look like they had just come from cleaning the stables. Never before have I encountered dirty scruffy old work boots in such a place. The food was definitely not worth and although different not kind to the pallet .The all edged onion soup was nothing more than a failed science experiment , and it fairly much went down hill from there . The final bullet was that we were charged for a coffee . Strongly suggest they change the menu and make it considerably value to money and flavour or go about a couple a ks’s down the road the a much more worthy dining experience.More

Elegant setting and good service. The meal was excellent apart from the fish which was a little over cooked. The steak tartare was well presented and the juzu pearls were an interesting additional flavour.

What a great establishment. Unfortunately the place was empty when we visited. We began our evening with drinks in the drawing room then moved to the dining room. We chose to indulge in 3 courses and they did not disappoint. Our waitstaff was appropriate in...making conversation but not being obtrusive way. We also didn’t feel rushed. So many great places to eat in the area, but I would recommend Eleonore’s for a special evening.More
