Food was great as always. Service has gone downhill big time!! Had to go up to them 3 times to get service. Lots of new staff who didn't seem to know what they were doing. We felt that the hostess was quite unfriendly and inhospitable. Although we mentioned on the reservation that we were celebrating a special occasion we were seated at the table near the grill where it was hot and uncomfortable. The same hostess then placed a dirty...Anniversary photo frame on our table without a word and left. The waiter was confused about allergen information, our food took more than 40 min to arrive and there was no bowls provided for bones( ribs) etc. Just not that special celebration atmosphere we hoped for. Very disappointed. We are regular customers and used to cone here almost weekly but with all the staff changes it’s Just not that friendly welcoming place it once used to be. The loyalty app also hasn’t worked the last 2 times we were there we tried to reset the password but it didn’t work so we missed out on that too…More

We went in for lunch without a booking on a Thursday, we had the 3 course lunch and enjoyed all of it and had very good service.
Went for dinner last night. Got a Hunter's sharing feast with 3 sides. Tahini chicken was excellent, as was the rump. The boerewors was beautifully cooked. The beef ribs were definitely not falling off of the bone which was my only real issue with the...food. I do better at home for sure. The sides of potatoes and Brussels sprouts were on point. Wine was very reasonably priced and well selected. Beer offerings were not very good at all. I didn't really look at their cocktails. Ambience was good and they had a good fit out. Toilets were very clean. Wait staff were pretty young but still OK (I don't think that I would ask anyone for wine advice 😉). Our main waitress, (I believe her name was Adern(?) was excellent, very friendly and attentive and that more than made up for the somewhat chewy beef rib. I will be back, but will probably try the pork rib next time. Overall very good.More
Was our first experience and had the weekend lunch here as part of the Red Ballon 'Meat Dining Experience with Wine - For 2'. Was pleasantly pleased by the food, great service and ambience. The three-course lunch meal was just nice and offered an excellent...variety of meat cooked just right. We would definitely recommend to family and friends.More
Went to hunter and barrel on a Sunday. Great steak!! Wouldn't go there everyday, as it is expensive ($10 for a side dish), but for a special occasion, it is excellent!! Staff were great, and it's so nice to have table service and not having...to order off an app! Would highly recommend : )More
Meal was great, service was great, the only thing is there was no low alcohol beer available, which I found strange seeing that there has always been a campaign for responsible alcohol consumption.
Dined for dinner. We shared the crispy prawn tacos for entree, I had the double lamb chop & hubby had an eye fillet steak for main & I also enjoyed a margarita cocktail. All the food was well presented & tasty but expensive. You pay...top dollar to eat here so good for a once in a while visit. I also had a $50 discount from my TheFork points so that was handy. Our waiter Raveen provided great service, he was attentive, friendly & knowledgeable.More
We booked ahead for my aunty's 60th birthday for a 3 course lunch. 1. I confirmed with Daisy via email that we could connect our Spotify playlist which was not available on the day and very dissapointing! 2. We confirmed a private dining room for...a 3 course meal, to then be told we had to take dessert away or move out into the restaurant in the middle of our meal and event, this is not acceptable service! 3. There was only 1 waitress to the 28 guests, she was lovely by the way, however it was not feasible for her to take all our 3 course orders so that they could be delivered in a timely manner... This contributed to the delayed service in meals and then we were asked to move??? How is that our fault? This was very bad planning and organisation on your management's behalf!! It then took my uncle getting very upset on his wife's 60th birthday no less for staff to agree to let us cut a cake and sing happy birthday before leaving with no dessert. Further to this, half of our guests fell ill the next few days . I certain hope food was not rushed and under cooked due to the abysmal management!! But it seemed to be that way. Overall we were quite disappointed after much planning went into the event to give my aunty a 60th she would love. I would not have an event here again.More
I visited Hunter and Barrel Eastland for dinner on Thursday evening. I walked in without a reservation, and the restaurant manager Shashank refused to seat us without a booking. One of the wait staff told us that there were tables available and helped find us...a table. The manager was not happy that we were seated and was cold towards us for the entire evening. Our section waiter didn’t serve us and we were ignored for most of the evening. The pass master was on his phone while our food sat on the pass. I’m disappointed that such an expensive restaurant won’t cater to walk-ins on a weekday evening. The staff seemed to be walking around aimlessly avoiding eye contact and trying to look busy. Nobody checked back on us during our meal or asked how it was so I couldn’t give them feedback that the mushroom pie was too salty. The rest of our order was delicious, however we felt unwelcome and like a burden, despite spending more than $100 for 2 people. Nobody asked us if we wanted anything else when we finished our meal so we went to pay and we were left at the counter for several minutes until somebody finally came to take our payment. Shashank was nearby and avoided acknowledging us, leaving the front counter unattended. The prices don’t seem to reflect the quality of service, and I’ve heard that they’ll be raised again soon. The staff didn’t seem to want to be there, and I hope that management will give them better wages to reflect the menu prices- this would surely increase morale and attract more staff. It’s a shame that what was such an attractive and friendly venue has gone so downhill recently.More
My husband ordered the melt in your mouth steak with a side of mashed spuds, I had the pork skewer with a side of charred corned, I couldn't decide if I liked the pork or corn better. Beautiful food ! The service from our younger...server was excellent. Not the cheapest restaurant, worth every cent we paid.More
We used a red balloon voucher. Not worth the money. Portions very small. Entree shared 6 calamari very tasty & lovely dipping sauce. 2nd shared entree cheese dip was just melted cheese. Main lovely chicken skewer came warm with nice crunchy chips. Other shared main...steak but how are you expected to share a steak when guests have different cooking preferences arrived cold, nice greek salad. Dessert what a disappointment bowl of chantilly cream was meant to have strawberries think they forgot to add - waiters were slack. Wont be going back!More
We were here on a weeknight and walked away commenting how great the service was compared to all the other places we'd been to recently. The attentive staff looked after empty glasses and plates promptly. Add to that - the food was amazing! Rump steaks were top quality and cooked perfectly - tender, juicy, flavoursome. Portugese butterflied chicken not greasy & generous portion. Coffees could be hotter, chocolate walnut brownie with choc sauce & real vanilla icecream a delicious treat to finish. Staff all had a positive, can...do attitude. The varied seating arrangements add interest and options. Enjoyed the dimmed lighting, relaxing 80's music & calm atmosphere. Our first visit did not disappoint, so look forward to returning soon.More
