This was the most amazing experience we have had. Having not planned well, we rang Hentley Farm to see if we could get a morning tasting and the team there, led by Ashley, were just amazing. They booked us in for a 10:15am tasting, and the tasting is not like any other tasting we have ever done.
We were fortunate to be staying across the vineyard at the Seppeltsfield Cottage and so walked through the vineyard, past the sheep, to Hentley farm and were greeted with smiles and felt so welcome. The tasting area is an old house dating back to the 1800s which used to be used for sheep shearing (you can see the tallies still written on the walls) and has been kept in the original style with the low ceiling beams and stone walls. Just amazing.
Inside were tables set for dining with wine glasses and candles and the fire burning, and we were treated like royalty. Taken to our table, we started with a glass of the local vineyard sparking wine and a board of fresh bread. Each of the wines were amazing. We had the premium experience (there are 3 experiences to choose from) which included 6 wines, all from the Hentley Farm vineyard. Each of the wines got better and better. One of the super interesting parts was two wines called "The Beauty" and the other "The Beast". These are the same grapes but grown on different parts of the vineyard and yet taste so different. Amazing what sun and wind and soil can do to change the taste of a wine.
Spoiler alert - we left with a bottle of the Quintessential and a bottle of the Clos. Wow!
We were running late for our lunch appointment. However, the team made a couple of calls to the restaurant for us to let them know we would be a few minutes late (just over an hour late as the experience was just so good).
I cannot rate Hentley Farm high enough and highly recommend if you are in the Barossa region, then you should make a booking. The experience is approx 1.5 hours in length, and while there is a fee, it is 100% worth it (they credit the fee if you buy wine from them).
We 100% plan to return with friends to experience this again.

Amazing. We arrived early and were sat at the cellar door for a glass of wine. We were then escorted to the restaurant and shown to one of only 4 tables.
We ordered a bottle of wine (didn’t do the wine pairing) and waited. A chef came out and talked through each course and answered any questions we had.
We loved the experience and would recommend to others.

From the moment we entered the restaurant and tasting area of Hentley Farm it was clear this was a very professional operation. The classic but understated layout of the perfectly kept garden and courtyard gave an immediate perception of class. The Barossa is not Las Vegas or the Gold Coast, so the property used rustic tones perfectly to represent the ambience. A tour through the modern kitchen to the dining area revealed the business end of the meal preparation was far from rustic.
We had the set menu with wine pairing, which is actually a no brainer way of doing things. Every course and wine was a knockout delivered by a friendly and cohesive staff. Easy to say the food and wine was a 5/5 but some quirky little things like not having the same cutlery for any of the courses gave this establishment a point of difference. From knives, forks, ceramic spoons and chopsticks then by hand it was quite cool.
In the end it was actually excellent value, and being on the Adelaide end of the Barossa, the drive there/back is pleasant and straightforward.
We made our booking months in advance, so do the same to avoid any disappointment. This place is right at the top of food experiences we have had in Australia.

We started with a delightful and informative wine tasting, excellently hosted by Makiela, who gave us a great overview of the history of the place, whilst also carefully avoiding the wines that she knew we would be served later. We were collected for a fabulous tasting menu with matching wines. Each course was delicious and varied, with delicate but intense flavours, expertly matched with generously poured wines. The service was excellent, and we enjoyed the chefs describing each course to us. We've had countless tasting menus over the years with matching wines, and this is right up there with the very best - highly recommended!

This was an exceptional experience from the time we were greeted by Shirley at the cellar door until the time we paid for our meal. We were early and were welcomed in and invited to look around at the beautiful cellar with a glass of complimentary bubbly. Lunch was an event - every course was so creative and delicious - we did the wine pairing which we highly recommend. The service was flawless and all of the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The dining room was intimate and the tables spaced out nicely with a limited number of guests - which made it extra special. Well done to the Hentley Farm team! This will be the highlight of our trip to Barossa.

Starting with a welcome Hently farm bubbles, some delicate nibbles, follow by a walk thru the kitchen, to be seated in their lovely rustic feeling restaurant with great view on this cold wintery day. The dishes that came out with an explanation from their chefs where all fresh local produce (except for the oysters, kingfish and barramundie) cooked/presented to perfection with some fantastic sauces to enhance the flavours. All in all a fantastic long lunch in great surroundings served by friendly profession staff, enjoy.

Unbelievable experience. Absolutely beautiful food, nothing like we had ever eaten before. Your eyes were eating the food before it got to your mouth it all looked sooo amazing. The attention to detail, the perfection in every dish - just fantastic. AND….if you wanted to know anything about the course you were eating- out came the chef to answer your question !
The food was above first class, but so was everything else. The dining room with 3 glass sides makes you feel that you are eating out in the vineyard. The staff friendliness and attentiveness, was great. People like Soraya, Paul and Olivia just added to the experience. You were never left “hanging” - the service was impeccable.
Is it worth the money though? Absolutely definitely. This is a world class experience, worth every penny.

Have heard so many good things about Hentley Farm and we finally got to try it!
Not a big fan of degustation, usually tiny little bits of fancy food on a massive plate, with a "swirl" of some sauce covering the rest of the plate, but this was different. The portions were generous, and the food was excellent! We're also not fans of wine pairing, as you tend to get a few dribbles in the bottom of the glass and a horrified look if you ask for more, but again this was different! The wine portions were very adequate. By the end of the meal we felt we had received plenty of food and wine.
The service was terrific, from the moment we were welcomed at the front door to the moment we left. What we really enjoyed was that the chefs, sous chefs, and apprentices (and there are quite a few), were encouraged to come out into the restaurant and present the dishes THEY had made, giving the diners an opportunity to meet the kitchen staff, and discuss the food. The kitchen staff also seemed to enjoy meeting the diners; a great business model.
A terrific special experience, but not for the wallet-faint-hearted!

An initial welcome in the ‘pre-restaurant’ area is intimate and personalized with a relaxing welcome drink while you settle into the ambiance. You are then escorted through the kitchen where smiling chefs and prep staff are busily cooking up a storm and creating masterpieces to blow your socks off. The 7 piece degustation is actually more like 13 serves of items ranging from pure works of art - all mouth watering and unbelievably intricate. This is offset - or enhanced rather, by the sheer elegance of the room. Cleverly they have used the scenery (and that’s all that’s needed mind you) as the highlight of the restaurant. Simple outstanding excellence on every level and one I imagine will be difficult to match anywhere.
Well done !

We could not speak highly enough of our visit to Hentley Farm. We drove there for a wine tasting and was looked after by a gentleman named Ashley. Not only did he have incredible wine knowledge, but was warm, friendly and went above and beyond to make our experience one that we will remember.
He also gave us great recommendations of other places to visit and he even booked us lunch at another venue. Being slightly younger than the typical demographic that visit wine regions, we felt right at home and will definitely be visiting again. 100% recommend for anyone visiting the Barossa. The wines are sensational!

We were excited to dine in one of South Australia‘s best restaurants but once again the usual problem existed the portions are just too small. I wasn’t terribly impressed that the first course was a salad. Really? Everything else was very good but half of ours full of fish have a mouthful of kangaroo for $275 is ridiculous. I enjoyed everything I just wish I didn’t have to go and find something else to eat after such an expensive lunch. I really have the fine dining restaurants in Australia will realise that fine dining is not small dining and you cannot send your guests away hungry after spending a couple hundred dollars for a meal. I might add I have been to most of the worlds 50 best restaurants so I do know what I’m talking about

Absolutely loved our experience at this restaurant. We strolled over from Seppeltsfield Vineyard Cottage, and then enjoyed our wine tasting with friendly staff in the cellar door. Then we indulged in 16 or 17 different 'tasting plates' of amazing food. All beautifully presented by lovely staff who described the food in detail. We ate and loved everything! And felt very special.

This was our first visit and we will be back. We did the 90 minute lunch but now we wished we had time for the 3 hour degustation. The food was so fresh and full of flavor. The service was so attentive and personable. This was a highlight of our trip to the Barossa.

Surpassed every expectation. Being a large group booking we sat at the chefs table and could not have been happier. Watching a fully functioning kitchen up close was a joy to the budding chefs in our group.
The service was warm, engaging and entertaining throughout the entire service.
Every course was a delight to be enjoyed, and the only cause for argument, was amongst the group trying to pick a favorite, although the lobster was hard to go past.
This event was a long time in the planning, but it met and exceeded every expectation, and was the perfect celebration of two milestone birthdays.
Thank you to the entire team at the Atrium.

My partner and myself came to dine in late Feb before the world turned upside down. We had no reservation as we had just found out we were expecting a baby. We had the opportunity to do a wine tasting (just me) and were delighted to meet the Chef who snuck us in last minute. from the moment we sat down to the moment we left Hentley Farm BLEW our expectations. The service was impeccable, the food was overwhelmingly good, the fact that the courses were altered to meet pregnancy dietary needs was appreciated. We left truly having the dining experience of a life time. I hope that all of the staff know that what you are doing at Hentley farm is special and gives customer memories to last a lifetime. When you are back up and running please don't forget how much joy you bring to people each and every day just by doing what you do best. Keep up the amazing work!! Your work is amazing!!!!
