Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We came here a few years ago and loved it. Everything has changed now. And not all for the better. The location is lovely. Beautiful views. However....the menu is so confusing with words that only a food critic might know. Pic attached. When ordering the...brioche dishes, you are being told it's a hamburger. We paid $28 for a hamburger that only consisted of a piece of chicken in a sauce. No lettuce, salad or garnishing of any kind. The side order of chips had black endings. BUT it wasn't due to burnt chips....the potatoes were ro tten.🫣 A glass of house bubbles will set you back a steep $13....for a pub drink. This place has so much potential. Such a shame. Next time we'll try the new Tapas 10 place next door, across the road. Has great reviews. Wished we had checked tge reviews on MPH before ordering.More

We went with a group of 23 for an “end of year” function. Initially, we were offered two course “festive” meal for $50 per head, and the private use of the Winston room. Two courses were chosen, entree/starter and main, with the option of ordering...desserts should anyone wish. Roast beef or lamb was suggested as the main course. We were told special dietary needs would be accommodated. Apparently, as we ended up with 23, including a few diagnosed coeliac and a couple of vegetarians, we would not fit in the Winston room, but would dine in the inside dining room. So we ended up with flame roasted “spatchcock”(the biggest one I’ve ever seen!) therefore chicken, with four plates of vegetables. The vegetables were delicious and up to our expectations, and the gravy for the meat, exceptional. Our second course, petite fours (Picture attached). Everything served was gluten free. Most members of the group were disappointed, and regretted the cost. We could have received a dessert ($10) which would have at least looked more substantial, and been more filling, than the lovely but meagre serving of petite fours. Very sad, very disappointed.More

Went with group of friends for evening meal, each prepaid $50. Supposed to be 2 coursed and desert extra if required. Main course was roast chicken pieces broccoli, mash potatoes, carrots, shredded cabbage. Desert 2 small pieces of jelly (a dessert spoon size). Very disappointing,...left hungry. Very bad value. Won’t be back.More

This is under new ownership and is absolutely faultless. The food is prepared using local farm ingredients two km up the road, each day is a new menu. You can have I 2 or three courses and they are incredible. They have some other things...on the menu but if your a goody, trust the chef having prepared something out of this world. Our lunch was two courses and was plentiful in size. This is my favourite place to eat and nothing comes close in Australia .More

Two websites and two completely different menus, one has pub food choices and prices and the other has restaurant choices and prices, we arrived to find they now only have the very limited restaurant menu with a choice of only 4 meals for lunch. A...hamburger, fish and chips, crumbed chicken or an expensive steak and no vegetarian options. The food was OK, but it's not the place to go if you want a casual pub lunch get together with friendsMore

We chose the $55pp shared meal option which was of excellent quality. The main course was a piece of top quality steak sliced into 9 or 10 pieces; ample for 2 people and cooked medium to rare, as it should be. This was accompanied by...superbly creamy mashed potato with crispy skins on the top, okra, cucumber (chilli and mint) and ox heart tomato as side dishes; again, plenty to share. Gravy and I think an onion jam type of mix to add to the meat. The vegetables were sourced from the Falls Farm and tasted quite different to what you get in the supermarkets. This was not your ordinary pub-food; it was a show-case of what the chefs are able to do when given the chance. Having said that, the pub-food menu was comprehensive and from what we saw go past us looked to be very good. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, their explanations and knowledge of the food was first class. We did start off with the 10 Acres sour dough bread with the special butter for an extra $5. All in all, a first class dining experience - one of the best!More

I ordered the $100 steak (which is supposed to be a shared meal) they kinda made a big deal of bringing it out. The steak was good quality but ive honestly had much better, a bowl of potatos and a massive bowl of nothing but...lettuce. I was still hungry so i finshed off my wifes pork belly meal. No way that could feed 2 people. Havent been to the local pub here for a few years coz the food was crap back then and wont be doing it again any time soon. I get the whole sustainability thing but i feel like its just an excuse to charge $100 for a $50 max meal. Kinda like buying a big bag of twisties and it being half filled with air lol 😆More

My parents travelled up to the pub today for a lunch and ordered what they thought was a fish and salad. When it came out it was a piece of fish and a lettuce leaf. My dad asked the lady where the salad was she...said it was a dressed lettuce leaf. Im sorry but are you taking the piss ??? What kind of establishment thinks this is acceptable? And charges for it? And calls it a salad? My aunty ordered vegetables which came out in a bowl you'd put soy sauce in at a sushi restaurant and she was charged $8. Im glad I didn't go with them or I would've given the food back and demanded a refund. I hope you change your ways this used to be an amazing place to visit. 2023 and this is what its came to. There's no excuses for ripping people off and pathetic presentation of a meal. Avoid at all costsMore

We went to visit the Mapleton Public House on recommendation from a friend and we’re not disappointed. The charm of old style pub meets some polishing of new era. Quietly refined, with happy and friendly staff who pointed the way to your hearts desires. The...man behind the bar knowledgeable on the taps to kick the night off, followed by a distinguished pool area reminiscent of a pub hidden away in the alpine areas… Then we sat for dinner and my oh my. We ordered to share, to be delivered whenever ready, getting the beef tartare with salt and vinegar radicchio, the octopus with grilled pickles cucumbers (wow) and potato flatbread. We received those in addition to two fresh oysters with tomato consume... YUM. Dishes are cleverly thought out and executed. The suckling pig we ordered for “mains” came along with some pork riette potato donuts (which were SO good) and was the perfect ending to our dining experience. The fact you can come here for a casual beer, game of pool and old school pokies and then turn around and have outstanding food on the deck overlooking the hinterland and coast is just awesome. Well Done crew, you’re smashing it!More

We have been to mapleton pub for a few times over the years and the meals were average so when we heard that they had changed ownership we decided to give it a go. Very overpriced and just changing your name to Mapleton Public house...doesn't mean you can charge more. Limited choices and I was not prepared to pay $55 for a steak. There were 4 of us and 3 ended up with chicken schnitzel which was served on a watery mashed potato (meant to be creamy mash) and a couple of green beans floating around. The schnitzel was over cooked. The other dish was fish (overcooked again)which was served with a bowl of lettuce. No dressing or salad, just lettuce. You may have amazing views but we won't be back!More
