Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Having past by so many times on the Hume Highway this time we spent a night in one of the most cosy heritage villas. The coffee shop offers a range of tasty cakes and very nice coffee in a rustic country atmosphere. Next time we always have a stop on our Canberra trips

Halfway between Canberra and Cronulla this is the perfect place to stop for a cup of excellent coffee, delicious home made food with friendly staff and great customer service. I had a chicken and mushroom filo pie and it was served with a very fresh salad and delicious relish. A generous size and very reasonably priced at under $20. It was a bit cold in the middle and they immediately took it away and replaced it with a new one with apologies and a smile.
My husband had the breakfast burger - the bacon looked so over-cooked but my husband said let’s see how it tastes and he said it looked bad but was very flavoursome. The coffees were creamy and I’d asked for extra hot and they were good. There is seating inside and out and it was getting busy at lunchtime on a Wednesday so maybe book if there’s a few of you.
We used the toilets and they were clean and well-equipped.
We will return. Thank you.

Met locals for lunch when we travelled to Canberra, and being just off the highway it was the ideal meeting spot. Sat inside as it was quite cool.
Both had the chicken and mushroom fillo pie which came with an excellent side salad and a very good capsicum relish. Others in the group had a variety of toasties, which were quite huge and also served with salads.
Coffees were good and water was self serve.
All the staff we dealt with from the one who took the orders to a variety of servers were friendly and efficient

To start off with I want to say the food, coffee and wine were good but very overpriced. A small coffee is $5.70!? Most of the food appeared to be premade which meant it was not suitable for allergies E.g. I couldn't order a toasted sandwich without aioli for my child with a dairy allergy. This was strange, because 6 months ago they had lots of vegan options. They don't accept NSW service vouchers. When I came in December, I had a wine tasting and bought a bottle of wine for $20 (the tasting fee was $15 but removed when you purchased a bottle, a standard thing to do at wineries). This time they wanted to charge me a $15 tasting fee to try a very small sample of 4 wines and $25 for a bottle of rose ($40 in total, double the price of 6 months ago)! We used to come here most school holidays, but will not be returning in the future.

Two coffees, one small piece of cake $21
Beware ordering more than that! A couple ordered 2 breakfasts with coffee and it was $72!!
When I approached the manager explaining it was against fair trading regulations to charge a flat rate card surcharge she tried to excuse it by saying “that’s what businesses out there do” and that she spends thousands on fees. I explained that you can only charge fees incurred eg 1.5%
She then said she doesn’t charge it if you are just buying a coffee - I suggested taking the sign down and charging the correct amount.
I don’t know how they are still in business. I’d prefer McDonalds and that’s saying something.

Very disappointing experience, we arrived at 2,45 pm and despite the closing time being at 4 pm they informed us that we could not have most of the food in the menu. We ordered and paid some of the available dishes and we were given a number and left to find a table. No one came to clear a table for us so we had to do it ourselves. After 20 min, we asked where was our food and no one had told us that kitchen had changed their mind and instead of serving at the table they would only prepare delivery . So our food was in a cartoon box getting cold and no one told us (despite being only one if three tables occupied). Lasltly we asked for a coffe to which we were told the machine is already cleaned , just to see coffee made for other costumers 10 min later.
Food was good but the experience was utterly disappointing

If I could give a lower rating I would!
I went on Easter Saturday to find out there was a 15% surcharge which was ridiculous. I then bought a piece of cake that came with a dollop of cream. When I asked for a fork I was told the utensils were on the counter. Not sure how your suppose to eat the cake and cream. My coffee came with a spoon which I did not need, go figure! The overpriced coffee at $5.50 was weak and terrible. I forgot to mention all the unleashed dogs barking at each other and running around under tables. We were forced to sit inside as it was bedlam.
This was my 3rd and last time at this place. Don’t waste your money, spend your hard earned dollars where the is quality coffee and service.

Having looked forward to a coffee I was shocked to discover they charged $12.50 for one plain croissant with jam on top of a $5.70 flat white coffee. Is this the most expensive croissant in NSW? $36+ for two coffees and croissants!!! When asked why they were so expensive I was told "that was the fixed price in the computer".
I will not be returning to this venue.

This cafe is the place to stop about half-way on a road trip from Sydney to Canberra. It is quiet, comfortable and serves great food. It beats the hustle and bustle of the big places run by Corporates.

On our way from Newcastle to Gundagai, the choices for an afternoon tea stop seemed slim until we stumbled over Eling Forest Cafe. It’s right next to the freeway, but you’d never know it once you turn down their driveway.
We shared a Devonshire Tea with fresh scones and generous servings of jam & cream. My piccolo was well made and husband’s tea washed it all down nicely.
There’s also a cellar door…maybe next time!

Breakfast visit.
Beautiful location and a lovely venue to walk around. Breakfast was reasonable, toast hard to cut with blunt knives, enough variety on menu.
Friendly service regarding food but asked about accommodation and was sent to wine tasting area who then told us to look on line which we thought was poor service.

Pre covid this was our regular breakfast spot when heading towards Canberra (15+ years). But no more after today's visit. Very few options. Eggs as you like, but they don't do poached. My partner chose fried - yokes were broken and hard. Bacon was burnt. Tea was insipid.

First, the four words every establishment wants to hear "We will be back". After years of travelling the Hume and many disappointments, finally found something decent without having to detour via the Mittagong/Berrima options. Good food, good coffee, comfy A/C country cottage ambience, clean toilets and not expensive. Even a little wine tasting in adjoining winery ... If not driving!

Second time here. Just not up to usual standard. No attention to acknowledge us or take our order for 10 minutes. Coffee order forgotten although raised coffee order again when breakfast roll was delivered - food was ok.
