This was such a lovely pub but it has changed but not in a good way the staff are lovely but wasn't happy with the manager was rude and came across like didn't care what was going on.

We love this old pub, it's cosy, friendly, full of character and does great pub grub. Yummy , always busy but quick service. Great for lunches too with real characters on market days, a joy to eat or drink in here or both.

Having used this pub on and off for more than 40 years, I'd love to give a totally positive review. Sadly I can't. I've got used to the recent refurb and the toilets are undoubtedly massively improved. Food's OK too, but on a recent visit...More

Always my favourtie Romford pub but even better after the refurbishment. Even the gents toilets has had an overhaul. Furnishings are now softer and it has had a paint job. Pleasant place for a drink.

I go to the golden lion whenever I can, it's a great pub, with reasonably priced drinks and food. The food is always great and the staff always friendly.

I booked the function room for my 60th birthday party. It could not have gone better. Colin and Sam had been very helpful with the organisation and the evening ran very smoothly. Elise on the bar worked very hard all night. The buffet was excellent...More

Popped in here with husband, daughter and son in law. My son in law asked for two pinot grigios, only to be told they had run out. He asked for sauvignon blanc instead. When we tasted our drinks I was disgusted that it was to...More

Obviously this place used to be my favourite pub in Romford. However since John had gone and they have painted it to look like a cross between a battleship and a pie and mash shop. I don't like it. However I was in the Lamb...More

The golden lion is a beautiful old pub situated in the centre of romford. The history of this place is pouring out of the walls and ceiling. If it could talk, 'Le Lion' could tell some spell-binding stories dating back nearly six hundred years. It was a stop off point for Royalty on the road to Colchester, Sir Francis Bacon drank there and may have penned a theory or two. (referenec from beer in the evening) The golden lion is a traditional good old pub serving great food, a variety of ales (10 pumps, varies) and many other premium lagers and drinks. The pub has 3 tv's inside (downstairs) 1 Outside in the patio garden and a big screen upstairs to watch all your major sporting events. The pub also consists of a very large private function room upstairs which room hire only costs £50. It holds up to 100 people and has private bar, toilets and exit to the patio garden or main bar dowstairs.
