Reasonable food but nothing spectacular. Beef was tender but too red for my liking. All food was served on plates rather than serving dishes so you were not given a selection of vegetables. Veg was cauliflower, peas and a swede/carrot mash along with pickled cabbage....More

OK so I live nearby as do most of the customers and we all talk to each other, share the same values and hope it never closes.

Don't expect false beaming smiles and an insincere 'have a nice day', do expect good honest food and drink in a proper English pub.

Booked for a table of 12 and were lucky to have the restaurant area to ourselves - the whole experience was fantastic - it was a surprise lunch treat for my Dad's birthday and because we had that area, I was able to bring him...More

This pub survives because it has the right blend of staff, customers, beers and food. From the moment when you enter from the pretty tidy front garden or from the large beer garden at the rear you step into a darker interior laced with a...More

First time visit with the family and fortunate to be able to enjoy Sunday lunch in the beer garden. Children's menu crowd pleasers well executed and good portions. Adult food terrific value, I've had so many over priced mediocre Sunday roasts at posh pubs that...More

We gave a review of this pub 3 years ago entitled Great pub grub. The chef has updated the menu and the food now is so much more than "pub grub". The nachos are nothing like any nachos you'll have had before. They are proper...More

Years ago we had a Rugby-club tug-o-war team based here. It's a bit more gentrified in the pub gardens now, but indoors tradition rules - excellent beers, friendly owner, sociable staff, and a brilliant Wood Burning Stove in the inglenook fireplace.
