Mine and my husbands second visit and it was just as perfect as last time. This time we both had a Thali. My husband ordered a meat thali and I ordered a vegetarian thali. I asked the waiter if I could try one piece of paneer (lol) as I've always wanted to try it and the chef incorporated it into my curry. Everything was delicious and the waiter was lovely and explained everything on our thali. We will definitely be back soon ☺️

My visits to see my elderly parents in Blackburn have in the past couple of years been enhanced by visits to this simple lovely restaurant. It feels out of place surrounded by take aways offering processed foods such as Kebab and Burger, or fried chicken. On 20th December 23 my partner and I took a table and enjoyed the most flavoursome peppery Rasam followed by Prawn and Mango curry, Brinjal Masala, a thin King Fish steak packed with flavour, some Appam and Rice. This was my fourth experience of Thira (other than visiting Santorini!). On each visit the waiters and waitresses have been as friendly and efficient as the food is exquisite and tasty. It has been This is quality food not fast processed food; sometimes it takes a good while for the food to arrive the price reflects the costs that this involves. As an occasional treat it is well worth it for me. I hope that the sibling venture in Bolton succeeds and that this wonderful Blackburn branch continues to delight diners for many years to come.

My parents recommended this place and it didn’t disappoint! We enjoyed a mid week lunch. We ordered poppadoms, onion bhajis, paneer with peppers, a Thali each and a take away for my mum 😁 everything was delicious! Fresh, fragrant and authentic… The gentleman serving us said that the owners are from Kerala, South India and this is the food their mums make every day. Service was warm and welcoming and our meal was thoroughly enjoyed by all, we will be back :)

We just walked in to the nearest place to our accommodation and found a delight. This is a really great indian restaurant with very well done & varied food at very reasonable prices. The service is also friendly and effective. You could not ask for more.

We visited for a second time, a few years after our first visit. Not much had changed, it's a no frills dining area in a no frills part of Blackburn. But holy moly is the food good. It's seriously good. We are big fans of South Indian cuisine so made a special trip from 10 or so miles away just to eat here. We shared an excellent dosa with chutneys followed by chicken 65 and lamb chops. They were both superb, moist meat, richly spiced and perfectly seasoned. The lamb chops in particular, were to die for. We shared just one main course, a Kerelan fish stew. Once again, the protein was faultlessly cooked in a beautifully spiced, rich and velvety sauce. The seasoning was again, perfect. We had that with rice and a naan. The only miniscule thing I'd have had slightly differently would have been a little more charring on the naan but it was a genuinely top drawer meal and with good service and friendly waiter. We are not going to leave it years again. In fact, we may not even leave it weeks. Its that good it merits the trip out and a 20 mile round trip.

My partner and I had an incredible experience and Thira. Literally the best Indian food I have ever eaten in my life! We started with poppadoms and chutney, lovely and fresh. The onion chutney is beautiful. Onion bahjis and scallops to follow, my partner said the bahjis were amazing, piping hot with a lovely mint chutney. He ate every bit, including a side salad. My scallops were incredible, perfectly cooked with the most amazing coconut sauce with crunchy peppers. I've never tasted anything like it, the best scallop dish I've ever had, so light and refreshing! For main courses we had a kerala prawn masala, sea bass grilled in banana leaves and sides of garlic naan, rice and a masala dosa which I've been wanting to try for years. My partner inhaled his prawn masala, he didn't say a word while eating it as he was too busy, said it was fantastic. My sea bass was so good, I had to recommend it to the next people that came in. Beautifully cooked, just fell apart, not too spicy in a gorgeous tomato sauce. If you go here order it, trust me you won't regret it. Masala dosa was huge, sweetish pancake, really crisp with a savory spiced potato filling. The sambal and coconut chutney complimented beautifully. I've wanted to try this for years and I wasn't disappointed. We couldn't finish everything as there was so much food, we would if we could as it was absolutely faultless. Perfect service, really friendly people. All the food plus 2 bottles of wine and 2 pints of cobra for under £100. If you're in the area give this place a visit, it's faultless.

On a visit to Lancashire, this seemed like a good choice. It was busy even on a Monday night so I had to do 3 laps of Blackburn (not a place I know) in order to find somewhere to park. The restaurant quickly found me a table and a menu which includes some dishes you simply don't see in your average Indian restaurant. Thira isn't 'fancy', the decor is simple - and I did move my seat as I was a little cold where I first sat down (I think the air con was right behind me). A very pleasant waitress took my order. The starter of spiced, deep fried mussels was exceptional and I'm glad I took the waitresses recommendation for this (it's number 12 on the menu). I went for a chicken main dish, Thalassery Kozhi Korma which was also very good. With Pappadams and a beer, my bill was less than £25 which simply doesn't happen 'down south'! I had a great chat with the proprietor who apologised for the delay (I hadn't thought there was any delay) and explained that all the dishes were cooked fresh and were Keralan in origin. This is a great little place and I wouldn't hesitate to come back next time I am up this way.

Fabulous Keralan food. Little boy's first Indian restaurant and he loved it - the children's meal he had was just right in terms of size . Poppadoms came with a beetroot chutney I'd never had before which was very interesting. The waiter asked if we wanted mild, medium or spicy - and both mild (me) and medium (my husband) were bang on in terms of the spice level we wanted, and very very good. Ghee dosa was delicious and the paratha was fantastic. And I couldn't believe how cheap it was.

Thira is well rated and for good reason. Three of us came for dinner and had starters, mains and sides, all of which were delicious, very generous and well priced. We had chicken, prawns, lamb and vegetarian dishes and all were excellent. Nice range of alcohol free drinks too, I had a sarbath (sherbert), which was probably sweeter than my normal taste but as it was an unusual option I couldn't resist. Will definitely return when in Blackburn, maybe for the amazingly priced lunch menu next time? Go. Enjoy. No regrets!

Amazed to find the superb restaurant on Uber Eats, tried their home delivery for the first time and from placing the order it was on my table within 35 minutes. Hot, fresh and plentiful! A mix of chicken tikka, poppadoms and onion bhaji to start, all with fresh sauces. Followed by a chicken biryani and King prawn masala with I think mango and tomatoes. Astonishingly good all for just over £30.00 to the door, so excellent value. Next time we’ll visit the restaurant itself. 10/10!

We came for a family meal, the starters took 1 hr to come out, they were really nice and the food was delicious. Mains then took another 1 hour 15 mins to come out. The mains were ok, but at this point it felt the chef was likely exhausted and all the various curries tasted quite similar. The food here is good and staff are nice but it is simply understaffed at the front of house and it’s likely a one man band in the kitchen. The issue is they shouldn’t take on so many bookings and fill tables when they have no ability to serve in a timely manner. I would suggest getting more staff.

What a great little gem this is, situated in the centre of Blackburn opposite the Cathedral. Great authentic, very tasty food. We had the lunchtime special vegetarian thali which consisted of; 2 curry's, a daal, a side dish, rice, puri and a small rice dessert.... all for £7.50! What a bargain. They also do a fish/prawn thali and a chicken/lamb thali. We got chatting to the owner Iyer who was lovely, as were his staff (see photo). Apparently he's just opened another restaurant in Farnworth nr Bolton so we'll definitely be visiting. Definitely worth a visit, some of the best tasting Indian food I've had in a while.

We are from Guernsey and this place beats all of our places at home. Not too salty or sweet, just genuine good flavours. The pickle tray was a highlight as I could tell it was all homemade, especially the beetroot sauce, spent ages trying to decide what the ingredients were! I highly rate this place. Shame it’s so far away.

Called in Saturday evening for a pre-theatre meal. Have to say the service is second to none, our waiter (think it could be the owner) went to great lengths to explain the origin of the food , he even brought us a map of region in India were the menu originated from - the food was superb , probably the best Southern Indian meal we have had - also really inexpensive. Altogether a wonderful meal eaten in lovely clean surroundings. We'll definitely be going back the next time we are in Blackburn .

AMAZING... Wow that was great, food fantastic, service great and staff very welcoming. Just googled an Indian near me while staying in Blackburn for a family wedding and this one popped up. Brilliant choice and just around the corner close to the Rail Station. The night after a busy wedding this place just hit the spot, "hair of the dog" Cobra beer and one of the best Indian Curry's we have tasted. Brilliant way to end a perfect weekend.
