Although I respect all reviews written by others, I was so surprised at the ones stating they were disappointed. I go there every year, and other than the restaurant next door "Ladoxarto", which is owned by the son, this is the only place I will eat. This is where the Locals go, so you know it has to be good.... More

Decided to try the restaurant again as we have been here many times over the years. As bad as last year. Wine awful, food ok, Service slow and inebriated staff don't help. They seem to have changed their name and rebranded. May need another rebrand soon. Avois as there are much better places on the harbour front. Do read other... More

Had a late lunch here after getting a recommendation from our hotel. We loved both the fried squid and the excellent grilled sardines. The waiters were very efficient and helpful, and recommended a lovely Greek white wine to go with it.

Smyrneiko has now changed its name to Ammos Taverna. I visited here for an evening meal on a recent trip to Naxos, and I was disappointed. I ordered a starter and a main course with some wine and the food was okay. Slightly disappointingly, they brought me another stater by mistake, and then insisted that I paid for it, despite... The former taverna Smyrneiko has changed name and appearance. The new name is now "Ammos- Fish and More", still on the same spot on the Paralia on Naxos. They have specialized even further in fish dishes. The owners and waiters are the same as before, but the cooks has changed. The food is presented in a more high-fashion manner. The... More

We ate at this restaurant 5 times in 4 days - it was that great. The highlight was the freshly caught calamari/squid which was lightly floured and fried - just wonderful. We also had a great fish soup which was a enormous serving of freshly caught fish - 3 different types served with a soup and potatoes. Stunning. Each night we... More

It's never easy running the gauntlet of the Harbour tavernas but I can recommend this restaurant if you are wanting some good quality fish. It's not cheap (have a gyros if that's your budget) but fresh fish never is and they will weigh it for you and tell you the price there and then. Very fair. Well recommended.
