On arrival we were welcomed, greeted to our seats on a day when there were minimal diners in this restaurant for a Sunday Lunch venue. It looked inviting, clean & professional as a Waterfront restaurant and we were sat at a Table with a view for 4 ... Immediately we were asked to order, & whilst thinking out loud we... More

The Ruan Thai seafood restaurant is on the pier at Bang Bao, at the southern end of the island. We were a group of 5 friends and ordered a lot--deep fried snapper, raw prawn salad, stir fried Chinese broccoli, stir fried cabbage in fish sauce, steamed prawns, steamed crabs, prawn cakes, tom yum fish, and spicy clams in the shell--9... We dined here last week and we were happy with the food. We chose the salmon fillet and seafood rice. The food was clean and tasty ( no MSG) the prices are fair. The service was good but we found that too many of the young girls were standing around the tables ... This can be off putting!

We came twice. The shrimp in tamarind sauce was superb, the shrimp were fresh and tasty, the crab in yellow curry was great, and the fried crab rolls were mostly crab and the crab was fresh and sweet. No complaints.

Ruan Thai is one of several seafood restaurants on Bang Bao Pier, which justs 600 meters into Bang Bao Bay, on the southern tip of Koh Chang. This used to be a thriving fishing village but that has now largely given way to the demands of the tourist industry. Three of us dined at Ruan Thai and watched the sunset... More

There are quite a few restaurants on Bang Bao Pier and we picked this one because it wasn't too busy! Great food, really fresh and delicious, with excellent service. Very prompt! Excellent value for money.

There are many seafood restaurants on Koh Chang, this one really disappointed us. We ordered tempura prawns ande were presented with 6 fried round rings- they were made up of a mix of which nearly resembled seafood let alone a prawn. They were expensive and we tasted the thing it was disgusting- we could not eat it, it also did... More

Tuna was dry. The shrimp cakes were more cake than shrimp. And they tell us at the end of the expensive meal that their Visa machine is broken and we have to pay in cash. Won't be back.

We tried a large fried fish with chili sauce with fried rice and some ice cold beer. All of the food we tried was very tasty but expensive. Be forewarned that the pricing here is jacked up at least 100 baht for the food. But this can be justified with the incredible view of the bay we had along with... More
