No four stars for this place -- absolute 5! Gourmet delivery of appetizers, main course and stiff drinks. Personal attention. Commitment to excellence by Brenda the proprietor. Enjoy.

As a local, I eat here regularly as one of my preferred locals. The chefs have changed a number of times over the past few years but the menu and the preparation remains interesting and well prepared. Over the past six months the new sommelier,...More

Had a great time and a wonderful meal. Brandy did a great job with multiple trips to the kitchen to make sure my gluten-free spouse knew her options! My wife settled on tavern style crab soup and the scallops but had plenty of other choices...More

This is definitely a place to try if you are in the area. We hadn't planned on eating here but glad we did! The dinning area was booked but we were able to go in the "bar area" were they have a few tables that...More

Sometimes this is a wonderful charming restaurant with great meals ranging from seafood to prime rib. However, about 10% of the time the meal just is not up to snuff, such as asking for medium rare and getting well done. Not sure what the issue...More

Great atmosphere for our 43rd anniversary celebration. My wife ordered the crab cakes that were delicious and I ordered the ribeye steak medium rare that was cooked medium and dry. I probably should have ordered the salmon special for the evening. We heard it is...More

Description
The Historic Lancaster Tavern has been serving great drinks and wonderful cuisine since 1790. Our cuisine is New Southern Cuisine focus on particularly the Plantation South culinary region begins just south of the Mason-Dixon Line in north central Maryland, where it's bounded on the east by the Chesapeake Bay Shore region and on the west by the Appalachian South region. It encompasses much of Virginia and the eastern Carolinas, then sweeps southwestward along America's coastal plain.
