We did a day trip from the "mainland" Eleuthera to Spanish Wells and rented the golf cart to make grab a bite at Sandbar - it was worth it and it was super easy to organize it, otherwise from the Spanish Wells docks it's about a 3mile walk one way so you can spend your time better on this beautiful island :) The drive was super fun and once we arrived I was actually pretty surprised, this place is big and it is beautiful! An amazing piece of real estate with access to an amazing beachfront! The food was very good, and the portion generous! The dozen conch fritters could have served as by itself as one main dish for two! The prices to my surprise were lower than on the "mainland"!!! The Goombay Smash was just $7, everywhere else in Eleuthera it's $10 or $11!!! I expected to pay way more in such a "remote" location and that was a very pleasant surprise we did not - don't read what other said about the prices, they must have not dined out in Eleuthera as the prices are pretty much the same everywhere we went in our 5 days stay in this paradise. TIP: come here and stay longer, the water, the beach, the hammocks etc. they are a full day of fun by itself! TIP: credit cards accepted of course, free wifi

Thank you for your thorough and thoughtful review. So glad you enjoyed your time at sandbar (and our goombay smash) and on Spanish Wells. We’re making frozen goombay smash today if you’re still in town!

We had a wonderful lunch here. Service was very attentive. Ebony was our server and she was pleasant and helped us make choices as the menu had many tasty sounding options. Water was kept full as were our iced teas. Portions were generous and delicious and if you like baked Mac and cheese be sure to try theirs! Big thick portion seasoned just right-not too bland or too spicy/pepper. Bathrooms were tidy and clean. Lots of places to have fun while waiting on your meal—corn hole game, hammocks, and a decent sized beach. Dog friendly too—but take your own bowl for their water. Could easily spend an entire afternoon here. Will be back for sure.

Visited Sandbar for the first time last night and had an amazing time. The food was scrumptious, the service excellent and the charming bartender makes you feel relaxed and welcome and will make you the very best Cosmopolitan. Will definitely be back and highly recommended that you give it a try.

Sandbar hosted my brother’s wedding and they had the friendliest staff and amazing service. The food was delicious and the bartenders/staff were very accommodating. We had a blast dancing the night away and cannot thank them enough for helping to make the night so very special.

Where to start.. My husband and I chose Sandbar for our vow renewal ceremony and could not be happier with how it all turned out! Since this was a destination wedding for us, we communicated back and forth with the owner, Danica, for over a year (!!!) to go through all the details and get everything ironed out. She answered all of our questions and connected us with a local DJ for the event as well, who was also amazing! We rented out the entire space and from start to finish it was truly a perfect night. The food was phenomenal - we chose the shrimp, chicken, and mahi tacos. Some of our sides included fettuccine alfredo, rice & beans, and conch salad - everything tasted incredible! We also had a full open bar which and did a local signature cocktail, the Goombay Smash, which was definitely a hit with everyone! All of our guests had the time of their lives, and even the staff were having such a great time that they ended up letting us stay and party until 12:30 when our event was supposed to be over at 11pm - we definitely didn't want the night to end!! The attention to detail and quality of service were above and beyond what we ever expected, and we can't thank Sandbar and all of the staff enough for making our special day so much fun! Spanish Wells is our home away from home, and will continue to eat & drink here for years to come. Everything was AMAZING!!

Thank you so much Hannah for the incredibly kind and thoughtful words and for working with me over the past year throughout the many travel bans and lockdowns and curfews and bridge collapse and more travel restrictions. You were great to work with and my staff and I enjoyed working your wedding. You and all your guests were exemplary guests. Hope to see you and Collin back here at Sandbar and in Spanish Wells many more times!

Not a traditional Thanksgiving but worth it for sure with the view, service and tasty food. Our charter boat captain recommended it and it was great. Beautiful view on the water- we even had an amazing rainbow overlooking the bay. The fish tacos were delicious. Service was the best we had on our trip. The kids loved the chicken finger and the fries were very good. They were even willing to accommodate us a little earlier than the kitchen normally opens for dinner at the request of the captain. We were very grateful for that because it was so helpful for our schedule and to get a real dinner on Thanksgiving before driving back to. Governors Harbor on Eleuthera not knowing what may be open later.

This was my family's favorite spot on the island. Food and drinks are good. Location is fantastic - might be the only place you can get food or drinks while on the beach. Service was also good. Great view of the ocean and has hammocks, corn hole, etc. Live music sometimes. Prices are equivalent for other Spanish Wells places.

Sandbar offers great food in a stunning beachfront location with friendly staff and a fun cocktail selection. I’ve been many times and it’s a must visit in Spanish Wells. I wanted to write this particular review, though, about their New Years Eve night (2022-2023), where they had a set menu dinner and dancing. 100+ people were served delicious food, and partied the night away - not an easy feat in a relatively short timespan, but the staff and Sandbar pulled it off under tremendous stress and with smiles like total professionals. At times they had to serve through the rambunctious crowd and they still got the job done. The kitchen pumped out high quality food and I had a great night. Impressed and worth every penny. Thanks for a great start to 2023, sandbar.

We love the tradition of having lunch here on our yearly visit to Spanish Wells. The food and service have always been good but every year we notice some improvements to the setting. They have a large shade awning now and the bean bag game is fun to,play while waiting for for lunch. The view can’t be beat!

We spent 8 amazing days on Spanish Wells. Visited the sandbar almost everyday. Great food. Service was excellent. We seemed to always get there when the kitchen was closed but they always had chips and salsa for us. The view is great. They have hammocks and you can play corn hole. We can’t wait to return

Located on the far end of Russell Island ( take the bridge in Spanish Wells, turn right at the top of the road, follow for a good distance - it will be on your left) The food and drink selection is really great and majority of the staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a great beach were you can enjoy the water, hammocks to leisurely swing the afternoon away with a Goombay Smash My only complaint for the Sandbar (and most of Spanish Wells) is the annoying and biting mosquitoes and "no-see-ums" They usually light repellant torches but if the bugs like to bite you, take precautions and spray your legs. You can also ask for some bug spray. Very tasty food and great service

Recommended to us by a local and did not disappoint! Cocktails were delicious, the house made falafels were some of the best I've ever had and I'm still dreaming about the peanut dressing on the Thai Salad. The atmosphere is fun and laid back and you're right on the beach. Appreciated the citronella burners on the tables to keep bugs away too, very thoughtful. 10-15 minutes by golf cart from 'central' Spanish Wells, the road is fairly well lit at night and it's well worth the trip!

What a great location on Russell Island. My family of 6 teens and young adults loved the Sandbar. The bar service and wait staff are great. The drinks are wonderful to have down by the water while sitting on hammocks. The atmosphere was filled with music. The view was cool to see boats pulling up or passing by. It's not crazy busy but just a laid back kind of vibe. We enjoyed the golf cart ride from SW to search out this place. The food was fast and good. My kids loved the fried calamari, fried pickles and bang bang shrimp.

The Sandbar is quite far out of town, so you will need a golf cart or car to get there, but you won't be disappointed. The food is outstanding. My husband had a braised short-rib he said was really excellent. I shared a creamy conch chowder that was the best I have ever had. I don't think you can make reservations. Also, they are closed on Sunday and Monday.

Good food, great drinks. The best food we had at Spanish Wells. Fish tacos and tuna banh mi burger are a highlight. Best cocktails on the island, too. However, they do automatically add a 15% gratuity and then have the audacity to add suggested tip percentages on top of that of up to 25%. That’s kind of bullsh!t. Obviously, hoping nobody notices they already left 15%. Plus the suggested tip amounts are on the amount with tip and 10% VAT. So, on 25% more than the actual base bill amount. Spanish Wells is crazy expensive for food in general. Entrees here are 18-30 USD. Drinks are cheap, 9-12 USD. Service is good and friendly. Definitely go to Sand Bar if you’re over this way, just know what to expect.
