Best meal ever, my husband had the duck. First time ever having duck and will get again. I had the filet mignon and it was prepared very much to my liking. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and what goes with what. What a great atmosphere as well. Great night.

This is a very nice place for upscale dining. The waiter Cory was great. The food came out rather quick. My husband had a porterhouse steak and risotto and he said it was delicious. I had a trio of vegetables. There's really not a whole lot to choose from the menu for vegetarians. The chefs veggie special was cooked spinach... More

As a child, the wife remembers this building being the place were farmers went to buy their feed. Now it is an upscale restaurant. Where we live, the nice steakhouse is Perry's. We go there a lot. We found that the local chop and grill house was comparable to Perry's, and in some ways better. The difference is it cost... More

We traveled 500 miles to eat at this restaurant! We were en route from Atlanta headed north and needed a place to break the journey and spend the night - after much research on trip advisor I found this restaurant so we booked a hotel nearby. What a huge disappointment it turned out to be. Cheese platter to start. Don't... More

I was looking for a nice place to go out to dinner with a business associate. I found the best place. We were to be seated at a table and it was too close to another party, the hostess happily moved us to another table. The atmosphere was perfect, a little background music, not loud surroundings and the correct amount... More

We started with the calamari appetizer. It was good but average tasting. Not very much for two... My wife had the petite filet with risotto and asparagus. She ordered medium but got medium-rare. She also received mash potatoes instead of the risotto. We let our waiter know, and he brought a small plate of risotto. She thought that the filet... More

I dined at The Local Chop and Grill House two times during my one week stay in Harrisonburg. The first evening I ordered the scallops, which were done to perfection and not overly seasoned. They were a perfect consistency and I would compare them to those I have had in Nova Scotia. High praise. Our table also ordered the calamari,... More

It was a pleasant surprise to find a restaurant like this in such a small town on our way back home to Florida. The ambiance is rather refined with a southern traditional flare (I believe the restaurant occupies the premises of an old farmers' trading exchange). Lots of exposed bricks and (finally!) with the right lighting. Nice tablecloth and real... More

During a recent visit to JMU had dinner with friends at Local. Valet parking service is a plus, Location is in an old produce warehouse, a little tough to find, but once you get there it is very good. Everybody enjoyed their meals and the wine was excellent. Would go again

Food was good but not excellent. Very crowded so we had to sit in bar area so the service was average.
