L’Auberge Chez François If you are looking for phrases such as “delicious,” “only the freshest ingredients,” or “lovingly prepared,” read no further. You will not find them here. Individuals ignorant of what constitutes good food carelessly spray these trite descriptors about for lack of anything...More

The service is attentive, Menu is presented in a way to protect check averages, I'm not a fan of being forced by a system to spend the money the outlet wants from me. Food was good, but nothing I would rush back to experience, The...More

My wife and I dined at Chez Francois last night for my 67th birthday. The setting, the food and the service were fabulous. This resturant is expensive, no doubt about it, but not as expensive as some others in the area. The setting is traditional...More

I have been dining at Chez Francois since I was a little girl! This wonderful, charming restaurant gives you the feeling of being in Alsace, the region in France that was the founders' home. The four-course prix-fixe menu offers a myriad of delicious choices, from...More

Is there a dress code? I'm going to be visiting downtown DC most of the day and won't really have a place to change.

Dressy casual will be ok. You will see most men in sports coats. It is not a pretentious place but the clientele tend to dress out of tradition and respect for quality of the place

Is it still run by the family Haeringer? Is the current chef a member of the family Haeringer or is he/she trained by M. Haeringer. I have eaten at your restaurant perhaps 6-10 times over the past 20-25 years and I think it is indeed a splendid venue for superb food. However, I have upcoming a major date in my life and plan a family dinner chez vous on November 11th. I would like to be certain that things are still as they were when M. Haeringer reigned supreme!

Is it still run by the family Haeringer? Is the current chef a family member of M. Haeringer or is he/she trained by M. Haeringer. Finally, I note that in the past 25 years I have probably dined at your restaurant 6-10 times and I have been overjoyed with the food on each occasion. Now, I am planning to have a very major dinner chez nous on November 11th (our 50th wedding anniversary is there next day) and i want to be sure that nothing has changed very much in the way of the excellence of food preparation! Thank you for your kind and earnest reply! Stephen N. Rous
