Casual, eclectic and fun menu. Brunch on Sundays, picnics, take-out or dine-in lunch or dinner. Hearty meat dishes but vegetarian/vegan friendly with lots of entree options for the latter. Gluten free options available as well
And that is I don't live close enough to frequent it as much as I would!!! Food, service, atmosphere...all a 5 star!!! And the Bloody Mary alone was worth the drive! Such a great feeling knowing these little hidden gems exist..
Just stopped here on a lark (great google reviews) and it lived up to its excellent reviews! Delicious whole food! The falafel bites and tzasiki were outstanding as was the West Indian pork and lentil soups. Will go out of our way to stop here....More
My family swung by here for a late lunch after some hiking in Shenandoah. It was a delight from start to finish. The staff is really friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious, and everything is made from scratch on the premises (even the ketchup!)....More
Blue Wing Frog was an unexpected surprise--I lived in Taos in the mid-eighties, before it became more mainstream, and this place would have fit in perfectly there, which is a really good thing to me. The food is all made there, from the bread on...More
If you are anywhere near this part of Virginia, definitely make a stop. Amazing staff/owners. They make everything from scratch, bread, condiments, pickles, desserts. We ordered so much and it was all amazing!
My wife is originally from the DC area, but we are officially from a small town in Oregon. As previous restaurant owners we have a good perspective of what makes a quality restaurant tick. Recently, we were staying at a friend's home in the Shenandoah...More
My Mom and I had lunch here because it has been recommended by so many people. The food was good, there were lots of vegan options and the portions were a good size! The owner told us the menu changes pretty often depending on what...More

So I am really curious as to why you bothered to write a "review" about a restaurant that you never even ate at? If we are not your style or in your price range.... we're ok with that. Thankfully we have more than a few...More

Yes and no! You normally order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. However, we were there for the first time and the owner, a wonderfully chatty, interesting, and friendly man took us to a table, gave us the history of the place, explained menu items, made recommendations and food was brought to our table. All the food looked good and ours was exceptional. The cookies, deserts, and everything else are made right there.
Very informal yet a lot of class.
