Friendly baristas make excellent lates. Artistic, imaginative pastry chefs make delicious and attractive desserts and pastries. Their cakes to order are beautiful and delicious. My stop for coffee and scone every morning.

No matter what day you stop by you will be greeted by friendly staff and an array of unusual and original baked goods. We particularly like the fresh english muffins which seem to appear only one day during the week. The coffee is also excellent....More

Thank you so much for your review! I appreciate how informative it is and I'm sure it will help others in their travels. You are absolutely right about the English muffins -- they do appear for one day only -- and that day is Thursday!...More

I stayed in Montpelier near Birchgrove and went there every morning for coffee and croissant. The tiny coffeeshop has interesting gifts and is quiet and private, with good coffee and food.

I am a bit of a croissant snob. Rightfully so I have two french bakeries on my New York City block but Birchgrove came in raising the bar HIGH for a blueberry (if I recall) croissant which was a first for me. It was perfectly...More

Awww, thank you!!! We're so happy you enjoyed everything! As for our dulce de leche, you're right, it doesn't taste like normal dulce de leche. We make it from scratch from cream, sugar and vanilla bean, so the taste is more subtle than condensed milk...More

It's a challenge to park in downtown Montpelier. Birchgrove is a little bit off the main drag but parking is easy and the coffee is marvelous! I had a raspberry scone - so fresh and light and studded with raspberries. I wish I could come...More

A little off the beaten path, but the locals have found this place. Hours are limited and bakery items are often limited later in the day. Coffee and coffee drinks are terrific. There is limited seating space, with some standing tables, and no bathroom. This...More

Thank you for your feedback and it's nice to hear you enjoyed your coffee. Apologies for our small space which doesn't allow enough room for a proper ADA accessible bathroom, which means that, due to zoning regulations, we're also not allowed to have seating. Check...More

Description
Birchgrove Baking is a cozy bakery located in Montpelier, Vermont. Every day, we prepare an assortment of breakfast pastries, scones, cookies, cakes, and tarts, all baked from scratch daily. We also offer house-made warm, fresh doughnuts on Sundays and, seasonally, our own ice cream pops, in addition to coffee and espresso drinks. Of course, we also offer wedding and birthday cakes and would be happy to work with you to plan the perfect cake for your event. Come by, grab a coffee and pastry and enjoy our quiet back deck overlooking the waterfall.
