Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The food was excellent and served with a smile. We ate inside but had a beautiful view of the lake and the diners below on the deck. Bart and Mike were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was very busy but the food was served in...a timely manner, hot and freshly prepared. There was live music on the deck and beautiful views of the lake, What a wonderful evening out!More

What a nice atmosphere! Our table was right on the lake. The food was excellent. We were there at a quieter time. Staff were wonderful. Food came out promptly. Could have waited a little longer between appetizers and meal, but we did order everything all...together. I did order a raspberry crisp, which when I asked the server she did say it was a beer when in fact it was a cider, found that out when I asked her who made it. It was lovely! But I do drink cider different than beer. We had the waffle with ice cream and maple syrup. Highly recommend, delicious!! You will certainly enjoy yourself here. They do have live music on some nights.More

We had a great time at the Lake House. Friendly, attentive service. Inventive, delicious cocktails. Extensive beer menu. Tasty food, good portions, and the view of the lake just can't be beat. Loved the live music -- solo guitarist who played the hits from Elton...John to Johnny Cash. Dog friendly, so bring your well-behaved pooch. I was completely satisfied with my dining and entertainment experience at the Lake House and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone in the area.More

We are from Massachusetts and were visiting friends. We had Friday, 6:00 pm reservations for 6 people. We were seated outside on the deck promptly near the music and had a fire table to sit at. Even though the restaurant was full, our orders were...taken and meals came timely. I had the black & blue salad and it was delicious. Steak was cooked medium and tender. Waite staff was friendly and attentive. We will definitely return when we are in the area again.More

What a shame that such a beautiful setting doesn’t have better food and service. We had a reservation. We were rushed from the moment that we were seated! . “You need to order now, our kitchen is closing soon” this was at 8:15 PM. Drinks,...appetizers and meals came with moments of ordering. We had not finished our appetizers and the meals were brought out. The menu is basically pub food, nothing special and very limited. We had to ask for silverware and appetizer plates. Once the food was served we were completely ignored. Our meals were ok, fried clams were over cooked, skimpy lobster rolls and a Philly cheesesteak with very little meat. Live music was great while it lasted! It stopped at 9. It was supposed to be a special birthday celebration and it turned out to be a very disappointing evening. I will not be returning.More

Even on a cold rainy night this was a great spot to stop for dinner! Our food - clam chowder, fish fry, and broiled fish were all excellent. Was a bit surprised when we were offered bread and then charged $3 for each individual sized...loaf. Great selection of beer and cocktails. There were some new servers being trained but all staff were welcoming and friendly. Hope to be back again on a sunny night to enjoy the deck and the view from outside.More

We took a weekend getaway for 3 nights and had reservations for dinner here one night. It was just the two of us but we each ordered an appetizer since it was our last night, him the soft pretzels which were really good and me...the calimari which I was very pleased with. I had the tuna tacos which were excellent and filling and he had the flank steak that we both thought to be tender and tasty. We took a ice cream cookie sandwich to go and loved every second of it an hour or so later. Our reservation was a little later in the evening and we were 1 of only a couple tables left but our server was very kind, attentive, and she didn't rush us or make us feel pushed out. It was pretty neat inside with what I would bet is a beautiful view of the lake (it was dark by our reservation time) and the building is deceiving in size from the road, it's surprisingly large. The meal was great, I'd love to go back again, I highly recommend making a reservation, and it's definitely worth checking out!More

Three of us took a motorcycle ride up there from Mass. It took us over two hours to get there for lunch around 12:30. When we got there, they asked us if we had a reservation, we said not, and they said they were booked...up. We told them that we went there on our bikes from Mass. just for a quick lunch. Guess what, they found a nice table for us outside, and we did not have to wait. Thanks!!!! I had the clam strips which were excellent and lots of them. We also ordered the Pad Thai, and that was excellent as well, just a hint of spicy taste with a sweetness to it. Well done. It was worth the trip. They were very accommodating to us (especially since we did not reserve a table). Great view and atmosphere!!! We will go back. Nice job to all!More

Always a treat because of the view. You do have the option of eating at the top level if walking down stairs is an issue or you can navigate two flights of stairs and eat outside on the water and perhaps be close to musicians...if they are there that night. Keep it simple and enjoy the drinks. You can arrive by boat if that is an option for you. Catty was our wait server and provided good service and helpfulness.More

The view, the food, and the service are all very good. Besides the more traditional New England fish and burger options, they also offer some tasty vegan and vegetarian options. The “good” rating is because of the following: This is not a great place for...people with mobility issues-you need to walk down some steep stairways to get to the lakeside dining area. And if you need to use the restroom by the bar, be careful. There is a steep stairway you could fall down if you walk past the doorways to the restrooms. They need better lighting and signs, and possibly a gradual ramp to the lakeside area (although it would be expensive to build).More

This has always been a favorite local place to go to during the summer. The views can't be beat and the staff is always friendly and personable. No complaints there. But, the prices have gone up, I think--or at least it seems that way--and some...of the favorite items (think nachos here!--one place we could get Mexican) have been taken off the menu. You don't get a lot of food for the price. For my husband and I to each have something--he had a burger and I can't even remember what I had--some sandwich because they didn't have what I wanted. I had one beer; he drank water. Our bill was $53 including tip. I think that's quite expensive for the average Vermonter--especially a retired Vermonter. It'll probably be a "once a summer" place now. Sadly. No complaints with the food, the service or the view. It's just too darn expensive.More

Stopped with two friends while on a motorcycle ride on a beautiful summer day. We sat lakeside. The staff was friendly and attentive. The selection of beers was excellent. The food was to die for (classic caesar salad, clam strips, 1931 burger). I asked for...extra anchovies with my caesar salad and got a LOT of anchovies. The burger was cooked exactly as requested. The coating on the clam strips was light, tasty, and totally free of grease Menu items are pricey, but worth it. They are also big enough to split with someone.More
