Cattails is sort of a roadside restaurant/bar/creamy stand with a wonderful surprise inside. The restaurant is rather good. I grew up in Maryland, eating great fresh seafood and quintessentia (sorry, I hate that word) fried seafood platters. This little place in the middle of Vermont, far from the briny deep knows how to fry sea scallops, shrimp and haddock. On... More

The meal was good, decent portions for the prices charged. Service was slow, wait staff seemed to disappear after serving food.

We had limited options thanks to the time we arrived, but ended up having a great meal. There was a mixup with our order, and the staff went WAY above and beyond to make it right. I would definitely go back.

Out leaf peeping and found ourselves in the Brandon area around lunch time. Hadn't been over there for quite a few years but remembered this place just north of town. So glad we stopped. I had the three little pigs, a pulled pork, ham, bacon, and cheese baguette . I upgraded the included fries to sweet potato fries. The baguette... More

Breakfast service only on Saturday and Sunday. Real maple syrup for your pancakes. Lunches and dinner are always good with generous services. Waitstaff is always polite and efficient. Didn't get the "dodgy roadhouse" review. Exterior and interior are up to date, clean and tidy.

Appearances are sometimes misleading. Between a rickety looking ice cream stand outside and the general appearance of a dodgy roadhouse the casual traveler looking for dinner might not give Cattails a second glance. As locals could tell you though, inside is a very pleasant and affordable restaurant with an eclectic selection and certainly one suitable for the whole family. I... More

We were desperate to find a place for lunch on a Saturday afternoon at 3:30. Luckily we happened upon Cattails. The chicken cutlet sandwich I had was delicious...moist and flavorful. My husbands burger was coked exactly as he had requested and tasted very fresh. Spend the extra dollar for the onion rings....they are home made, crispy and light. Service was... More

We went for dinner while visiting family. It is a wonderful family restaurant with a varied menu. The prices are reasonable and the waitstaff is very friendly.

I had the special salad of the day (salmon + garden veggies + pesto) and it was really good! The veggies were fresh and abundant. (I think some of them were even noted as being local!) The combination of ingredients was creative and delicious. I pretty much cleaned my plate. The waitress was friendly and professional. The space was clean,... More
