We have eaten at Rudy's before and wanted to eat there again. We stopped there the day before Thanksgiving. I had the sliced turkey sandwich and hubby had the ribs. He also had the creamed corn. Yummmm! After we finished eating, we got back in line to get some more sliced turkey and creamed corn for our Thanksgiving feast. The... More

Rudy's was recommended by the locals and when we arrived, I was worried about buying gas and food at the same place but it was worth it. They offered samples of brisket and turkey. The turkey was outstanding. I ordered ribs and new potatoes. Wow. Apparently the Baylor coach show is filmed there.

Brisket lovers will really go for the wet brisket. Always a good choice! You really can't go wrong with any of the meat at Rudy's. I'd love to offer a suggestion, though - add some sides that are healthier options. Coleslaw, potato salad, corn - none of these (though they are yummy) are on my healthy eating plan.

As 2 brits on a road trip we wanted to find a Typical BBQ in Texas. This ticked all the boxes. Good food and a good selection of sides and beers. Don't expect glamour. Messy but fun.

Anything and everything is good here. Fun to people watch too if you are from out of town. Baylor loyalty abounds!

Rudy's BBQ is the best we have ever had. Their brisket can be ordered lean or "wet." I say go for the "wet" because it is so tender, juicy, and flavorful. Their pulled pork is delicious too. You can get sandwiches or order the meat by the 1/2 pound. We ate at another Rudy's in New Mexico years ago and... More

I always order Brisket Butcher's Choice and the Smoked Turkey. Occasionally I alter and add Sausage and Ribs. But the Turkey is the best you will ever eat, Too Much Smoke can irritate me and I never have that problem with Rudy's.

Really great Bar-B-Que at a reasonable price. I had the regular sausage and my husband had the lean brisket and both were really good! Nice relaxing atmosphere.

Stopped here on the way to Dallas. We ate the brisket and ribs and the meat was tender and juicy. We also had a side order of beans. The beans had a taste of BBQ sauce with beans. I have had better beans and cooked better beans. The dining area had plenty of tv's to watch news or sports.

I'm not much of a BBQ person, but my family recently met some friends at Rudy's. Everyone enjoyed the BBQ and sides. I enjoyed the potato salad and beans. It has long tables with red checkered table cloths. Very Country feeling! Nice atmosphere and good food.

Description
Just north of San Antonio, at the edge of the Texas Hill Country, sits the small community of Leon Springs. Founded in the 1800s by Max Aue, Leon Spring's cityscape changed when Max's son, Rudolph, opened a one-stop gas station, garage, and grocery store. Bar-B-Q was added to the operation in 1989, and Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q has been serving up tasty food ever since. The same original recipes that built Rudy's Leon Springs' reputation are now available throughout the Southwest. Our pits are 100% wood fired with oak, a slower burning wood than the mesquite used by others. Along with time and oak, we cook with a dry spice that ensures each plate of Rudy's Bar-B-Q is perfectly ready for you. Apply some of our famous "Sause" and dinner is served.
