About
"The gastropub movement is well-represented on South Padre Island at Padre Island Brewing Company. Rotating draft selections include several styles of handcrafted suds; Texas Long Board Lager, Tailing Red Amber, and Speckled Trout Stout are among my favorites, when available. If you can’t make up your mind, get the “Sampler Tray,” a tasting of all five beers currently on tap. The menu is extensive—“peel and eat” shrimp, spicy wings, and fried calamari are popular appetizers, as are the chips-and-guacamole combo, ceviche, and nachos. The bar has won an award for its pizza, but I recommend the burgers. If you’re really hungry, order the Texas Burger, a double-patty, one-pound monster topped with jalapenos, mushrooms, and cheese. From the seafood menu, beer-battered shrimp is an obvious choice, and the tuna and flounder are also excellent." From Texas Highways Magazine, June 2015

Great beer and shrimp. Got a sample flight of 5 of their house brews and wife had a fried shrimp basket and I splurged for a pound of peel and eat. Wife said best ever and I say same. Biggest and best shrimp on the beach. Beer good choice also.

Needed to check this out and was not disappointed. Oysters on special 75 cents each
nice size an taste was amazing. Brews wow loved the Speckle trout stout and I am a lite beer drinker. Had to have a flight to check them all out. Our server was excellent made sure we had anything we needed. Will definitely go back for more brew and may be some more oysters (HA)

Speckled Trout! Not a dinner but a beer, at $3 a pint during happy hour this is a main attraction. Beers are crafted on site, you can see the kettles from inside the bar/restaurant. Will be sure to go back for that one, and they have 4 others to try as well. The gluten free cauliflower pizza was excellent. They have a appetizer special, 3 apps for 8.99 served until 7 and at the same time you can order oysters for 75 cents each. The presentation on the oysters is beautiful and I have developed a real craving for them now, I was an oyster virgin. Staff is friendly and the place is usually pretty busy but the wait times are short. Beer and oyster lovers, this is a no brainer!

Went there with my wife for a beer. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very cordial and answered all our questions. The food we saw coming out of the kitchen looked good, but I was bothered by how dirty the floor appeared. Maybe it was the type of tile used, but it did not look clean. We were there about 3pm, so perhaps the lunch crowd was busy and they had not had the chance to clean, although the area along the walls and corners looked pretty bad, so I dont know what to think about that.
The beer was good, prices fair, and I would not hesitate to return for a beer. Sorry PIB, liked your place, just a little hesitant based on the floor appearance.

We went to Padre Island Brewing for lunch on a cold rainy day, our server, Erika, was fun and friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic and the locally brewed beer was outstanding. Relaxing and comfortable atmosphere.

The food was mediocre at best. We ordered the boiled shrimp and it was over cooked. We still ate it and didn’t say a word. Then we ordered the happy hour platter that comes with 3 appetizers and then 20 of the $0.75 oysters on the half-shell., another happy hour deal. The appetizers were “meh” but the oysters…oh lawd. I was skeptical anyways because it’s a hot month and it doesn’t end in “r” but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. When the lady walked past me to set my 10 oysters down, I IMMEDIATELY got a whiff of the oysters and they smelled absolutely gross. Upon looking at them, they were shriveled up and just didn’t look like an oyster should. I had a bad gut feeling about them so I didn’t eat any. My friend, however, ate two and had to take the second one out of her mouth because they tasted bad and really weird. We talked to the waitress about it and she got really defensive. We explained that we are from Florida and Alabama so it’s not like we don’t know what oysters are supposed to look, smell, and taste like. She kept arguing saying that it’s a “different kind of oyster” and that that’s how it’s supposed to be. Umm…no ma’am, it’s not. She said that she doesn’t know why we feel that way because they have “the best oysters around”. Umm…no ma’am, you don’t. Please, whatever you do, do NOT eat the oysters here unless you want to run the risk of getting sick. Had the waitress not gotten snippy, I probably wouldn’t have given such a low number but that’s just unnecessary. So, I absolutely will not spend another dollar there.

This was one of the places we wanted to visit while on vacation. Walked in and seen it was full but we were the only ones waiting. The hostess appeared to be about 18 and could care less about her job or the place. She asked us how many and then told us she had no tables. We asked if we wait or what and she just says yes. Doesn't take out name or anything to get on a wait list. Then she just walks off and hangs out with about 4 waitresses talking. She never once asked if we wanted to sit outside which we had no clue was an option until we actually got seated.
Once a table was available and we got seated we was quickly greeted by our waitress who was great. She did a great job taking our order and getting our food.
There is a lot to choose from here. We did burgers which were about average for burgers. Wings were pretty good and above average. The nachos with steak as the appetizer was really good.
So if it had not been for the rude and careless girl working the door, this would have been close to 5 stars. Get rid of her or find her something other than customer service and you might so better.

Visited with another family. Enjoyed that this is a family friendly restaurant and we were able to get in easily with teenagers. Burgers were very delicious and fairly priced. $7 for a plain Caesar side salad with no chicken is crazy, it’s served on a small side plate (not a bowl). The cost for a sea bass plate was expensive for what it was but was served with fresh vegetables that were cut, steamed. The garlic mash was a bit runny. Bar cocktail beverages had a lot of ice and were weak, that is typical wherever you go though usually. Overall it suited our needs as we were able to take the teens with us, it was late and most everything was closed on the island. We did appreciate being informed of the happy hour specials for the remainder of the week.

My husband and i thoroughly enjoyed out meal at Padre island Brewing Co. The wheat beer, is, in our opinion is the best. Light but full of flavor. My husband's Burger was a little over done but enjoyable none the less. My Beer Battered Fried Shrimp was the great! The batter was flavorful and lightly applied the shrimp were perfectly fried and tender. Garlic mashed potatoes were really good.

We spent three weeks on the island and this was one of our favorite restaurants. They have happy hour every day from 2 to 6 with 3.00 pints and reduced appetizers. I tried several varieties of plates and was never dissatisfied. Prices were reasonable as well, The acoustics were not the greatest when there were large groups but otherwise we loved the place.

Even though the restaurant was packed, be had a very short wait comparatively. The staff was efficient and friendly. The food was great! The oysters were great, the fried shrimp were large and well seasoned, and the crab cakes were excellent. The food has a little more spice than some seafood, but we all thought it was not too spicy for our 8 year old granddaughter.

First the beer flight was awesome especially the raspberry wheat for the summer. We had the tuna entree, fish po’ boys, Chicken club, a burger, spinach salad with blackened shrimp. Each dish was done well. My kids loved the mashed garlic and roasted potatoes. We tried three desserts and loved the key lime the most. The service was great! I highly recommend this place. In addition, the tables were spaced out and the staff wore masks.

We weren’t sure what to expect from this place so we waited until our last night on the island to eat there. If we had eaten there on the first night, we would have eaten every other meal there! The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. Our waiter was Steven and he was warm and accommodating and made great recommendations. When we asked to purchase a shirt, he came back with every available style in my husband’s size. My husband and I had the shrimp parmesan pasta special, which was very reasonably priced, and my daughter had the pepperoni 8 inch pizza. Her pizza was drool-worthy!!! We had several of their house brews and enjoyed them all. We will DEFINITELY go back when we visit SPI again!

The food here is good; but if you are concerned about COVID 19 AVOID IT. The staff has gotten very lax about wearing masks. Only 1 of 4 kitchen staff was wearing a mask. The waiters very seldom covered their noses with their masks and frequently pulled them down to their necks.

We have a group of 10 people that hang out together a lot and we visit the brewing Co. a couple times a month. Last evening, we celebrated a birthday there. 2 of us ordered the blackened chicken Alfredo, which the chicken was VERY salty, we couldn't eat it. 4 of us had pizza it was ok, and another couple had the burger they said it was very good. 1 ordered the flat bread, 1 ordered the chicken fingers, cheese curds and? they also said it was good. I bet we won't be ordering blackened chicken alfredo again. Our waiter was super nice.
