For some reason I never knew about this place until my wife mentioned it to me while we were in Houston. One evening we drove down to Gilhooley's in San Leon. My wife told me to not expect very much in the way of an establishment but I reminded her about all the barbeque places I had been to growing... More

Dive restaurant in San Leon. Great raw oysters ($15/doz), and they were huge. The place is known for its broiled oysters, but I preferred the raw. Cheap beer & wine prices.

The BEST broiled oysters I've ever had. Oysters Gilhooley (garlic, butter, parmesan) are wonderful. The atmosphere is totally laid back, with a small restaurant, outdoor dining and a small outdoor bar with some seating. I recommend this place highly, with caveats: 1) It is a mess. No attempt to wipe down our rustic outdoor table, bathrooms are awful, weeds growing... More

This place looks like such a hole in the wall, one matchstick could lite it up but....it's always packed!...AMAZING OYSTERS!! The best I've had in my 5 years in Houston. The rest of the seafood is amazeballs too. Such a fun and friendly spot! The people here are great--customers and wait staff. Great place to stop in. You'd be a... More

Some of the best oysters I've ever had. Oysters Gilhooley and the shrimp Gilhooly are both top of the line. I found this place on the internet looking for a special place to eat on our way to the cruise port in Galveston and made a point to stop there. I'm really glad that we did.

Sure wouldn't have guessed this place would be such a great one for a drink and seafood. Reasonably priced, great service, fresh seafood and amazing smoked oysters!

Gotta know it's there to go!!! We ate here 3 days in a row. Just loved the outdoor dining and atmosphere. Located near the Gulf and the seafood is excellent. We had the chargrilled oysters etc. just good food if you like seafood. Can't wait to go back to La Porte, TX and drive back down to Gilhooey's.

My wife and I stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday during Marci Graz. The crowd was not at capacity, but definitely not empty either. We opted to sit outside, as the indoors was too smoky from cigarettes for our liking. I ordered the Oysters Shrimphooley, and my wife ordered the Shrimp skewers. The dozen oysters I ordered were...
