Went there on August 9, 2020, for birthday lunch. Three of us had the regular size chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, fried okra, dinner salads. I had the all-U-can eat fried catfish with fries and dinner salad. Everyone was pleased with the freshness...and flavor of the salads. The CFS is the Real Deal. NOT pre chewed up mystery meat or soybean patty, or the "meat" so thin you wonder "Where's the Beef ?" I did sample a bite of the CFS , and was impressed that the steak was about 1/2 " thick before battered and fried. The catfish was fried to perfection, and was seasoned properly before being fried - which is important for great tasting fish. All servings were generous, and everybody required take home containers for an additional meal at home. We were all very pleased- with everything. Going back today with a different group of friends, and plan to frequent this place.More

I was a bit nervous about "going out to eat" but the Relay Station has a large dining area, plenty of space between tables and very clean and uncrowded. Service was excellent, food really, really good! As a special they had fried catfish all week...instead of just Fridays, and with a side of fries, and a garden salad, and the appetizer of battered mushrooms was the best I have ever tasted!!! Definitely going back!!!!More

On way back from Conroe, my associate wanted to try this place, the Steak thing and crowded parking lot intrigued him times when passing ... so we stopped . Outside is "Rustic" to be kind, the motif carries thru to the interior too. Service was...good and my chicken fried steak was good, broccoli spear was humongous, mashed potatoes good. All in all a good meal ... and he enjoyed his, I would stop here again !More

Older lady sitting us had no greeting and no smile. The waitress was the same. There were only 4 other small tables being used but we still waited about 30 minutes for a club sandwich and a cheeseburger. The order was wrong, the burger was...cold and both cost $7 each. That sandwich and burger didn’t even come with fries. That’s an extra $3 and they are frozen. Just like the hamburger patty. Seriously, we’ll never go back. I can make that at home. Don’t waste your time here unless you want to eat with the tv on and not a pleasant person anywhere.More

If you’re into rustic, country food, this is your place. Chicken fried steak, red meat dishes, taters, green salad. Nicely prepared. Nothing special or out of the ordinary, just food.

After driving by for 22 years - we FINALLY decided to stop by for a mid-afternoon lunch - early dinner. We really loved the relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant. I had seen some that had said bad things about the decor.... not sure why though...- it is a VERY country decor inside...... loved how they used tree stumps for the base of the tables........ There was only one waitress that we saw as there were 2 other tables when we arrived and by the time we left - it was just us....... so of course - service was good! We first ordered the fried mushrooms and they were delicious. Fresh and hot! I ordered the grilled pork chops, salad and baked potato and my husband ordered the porterhouse steak with sauteed mushrooms, baked potato and salad. Both entrees came with a small slice of cornbread. My grilled pork chops were absolutely delicious! Cooked very well and perfect seasoning! My husband said the steak was not the best he had eaten, but it was very good and tasty. I do have to admit though - the cornbread was dry and had no butter on it and was really only big enough for 2 bites.. not sure what was going on there...... We topped it off with chocolate meringue pie for me, and peach cobbler with ice cream for my husband and 2 cups of coffee. As it was 4 ish - they said they would have to make a fresh pot of coffee...... not really sure that happened..... seemed it might have been actually an older pot that was heated as you could have stood a spoon straight up in it - it was so strong..... no amount of cream made the coffee change color.... but the dessert was delicious. Glad we dropped by...... It may not be a regular stop as $72 with tip was quite steep for what we got..... but we will definitely return some time in the future.More
