Service was very good as well as the food. We ate outdoors under an umbrella and had a little view of the river. It was still rather warm to eat outdoors but it was worth a little perspiration. Good menu selection including desserts.

This place is definitely popular! Expect long (1.5 - 2 hours+) waits for dinner. We had a great table overlooking the Guadalupe River. The service was ok, food was very good. Reasonably priced. Gruene Hall is right next door and there are lots of shops...More

We have dined here several times. The atmosphere is lovely, and I would certainly request outdoor seating! The food and wait staff are great! Be sure and try the desserts too!!

It's an old-fashioned restaurant - some outside, some inside, you choose - in the historic town of Gruene. What's not to like!!

We always visit when in town. The atmosphere is great and we love to sit outside. The stuffed jalapenos were a delicious start. The chicken fried steak was cooked perfect and served with just enough gravy. The grilled chicken salad arrived as ordered without olives,...More

There is a lot of shade trees, tables with umbrellas, and if you want to sit inside, there are ceiling fans. To cool off enjoy a margarita, beer, or tall glass of iced tea.

I saw grilled food items and veggies as well, I'm sure if you let the server know they can try to accommodate.

Situated on a bluff overlooking the Guadalupe River, this spectacular
restaurant nestled under the shade of towering oak trees has been the perfect getaway for a unique casual dining experience for thirty years.

Located in the historic district of Gruene just beneath the famous
Gruene water tower, we opened in 1977, serving steaks and
hamburgers from a tiny kitchen in the corner of the building.
Our menu still features thick steaks and large hamburgers, but the
restaurant also serves up popular South Texas fare like chicken fried
steak, fried catfish, grilled chicken, enormous sandwiches, fresh fish
and special dishes like tomatillo chicken and bronzed catfish. Fudge
pie, the enormous strawberry shortcake and our signature Jack
Daniel's Pecan Pie are famous desserts. A full bar with a good wine
list and fresh squeezed lime margaritas are also big hits.
