Great place to spend a Friday evening. Food was good, love music on the patio, good service. They have a wonderful play area for the kids too!

The service was good but the food was average at best. Started out with the tortilla chips tasting like old cooking grease. The waitress brought us another basketful saying she tried to get some she thought were freshly cooked. Freshly cooked was not the issue, old cooking grease was the problem. The meal was so so. We won't go there... More

We had driven by Herbert's many times and the parking lot was always filled, so we decided to give it a try for lunch. We were seated immediately and chips and salsa came soon thereafter (maybe the best part of our meal). Our server was obviously brand new--and though enthusiastic was less that efficient and even less knowledgeable. We finally... More

I have been trying Herbert's off and on since the 1990s both in New Braunfels and San Marcos Texas locations. One thing that has always stood out was better than average food with terrible service. Several years ago while trying the new location in New Braunfels I waited an hour for my order and when it arrived it was burnt... More

Food was only mediocre. I ordered a cocktail that still had not come when my food came. No apology, just we're busy.

We had a group of 10 for breakfast. Service was good as we were in no great rush. The migas and breakfast tacos were very good and the other breakfast specials were good and plentiful. They even have complimentary chips and salsa with breakfast. Prices are very reasonable.

Starving with little time for lunch and we didn't want fast food. Herbert's was a great choice. We were in and out in 30 minutes. The food was fast, hot and filling. My husband enjoyed the taco dinner plate saying the right email and beans were nice and light. I enjoyed the taco salad with enough left over to take... More

We had dinner on a monday evening. The hostess was very pleasant and seated us quickly. Our waitress was helpful since it was our first visit. Our dinner was excellent. The chips and salsa were great. Between the two of us we tried cheese enchiladas, chicken enchiladas, and chalupas. We definitely would go again.

Driving from San Antonio to Austin, we stopped here for breakfast. Probably a better lunch or dinner spot. Our server was very attentive and conversational. Chips & salsa were complimentary, pretty good salsa, but not my conventional breakfast starter. Food was pretty bland, bacon, hash browns, toast & eggs. The basics can be done much better.

When it comes to Mexican Food in New Braunfels, Herbert's tops the list. It is our responsibility to continue our family tradition of quality Mexican food and service that our family started over 30 years ago. We are famous for our fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, and authentic homemade tortillas. My Father Herbert Sr. And my Mother Dora, originally started Herbert's Taco Hut in 1976, in San Marcos, Texas, and it has been a landmark ever since. It's my parent's tried and true recipes that have kept our patrons coming back for more than 30 years, and it is those same recipes that will keep them coming back for the next 30 here in New Braunfels.
