Ok I have got to admit the food was good but the atmosphere was lacking for it was like a flea market type joint. Barbecue ribs were awesome. My wife love the brisket.

It had been a long time since I was last here. The BBQ sandwich was good and they have a good sauce as well. The beans are a little sweet for me. What I like the best is they do not try to hide the flavor of the meat under a huge amount of sauce and allow the sauce to... More

This place has always been known for its outstanding brisket and "Blazin Butts". Its operation is currently being transferred to a younger family member who has brought a new energy and dedication to cleaning up the dining room and ensuring only the freshest meats and sides are being served. Was served the brisket and ribs and both were fresh off... More

We were in Texas on a hunting trip and were told about the Pitt Stop BBQ place. We had the brisket, sausage and chipped beef sandwich. The blazing hot sauce was just right for me. The potato salad was wonderful along with the baked beans. My son said his chipped beef sandwich was good. If you are in Lufkin, you... More

Really wanting BBQ, I googled BBQ and Lufkin and found Pitt Stop. Had the best lean BBQ ever with beans, potato salad and cole slaw piled up on my plate - enough for my husband and I to share. Followed by delicious peach cobbler. We will definitely stop there next time we pass through.

The dining room (if you can even call it that) looked like the makings of a garage sale, or possibly an episode of Hoarding: Buried Alive. Clearly ambiance was not a priority, so I hoped they were instead focusing on the meat. The aging Ma and Pa who run this joint were a tad grizzled, but were both very nice.... More

Trying BBQ all over Texas competition becomes fierce. Everything at this place is homemade and the owners work onsite. The brisket is lean and they offer sauce and sausage varieties such as Cajun and spicy. The best beans I've ever tasted. Overall alright, but when matched up with greats like hard 8 and railhead, it's left in the dust.

Stopped in with a party of 4, not realizing they were closing in 10 mins. The owner was gracious enough to stay open a little late to feed us, when we were the only ones in the restaurant. I had the brisket and spicy sausage, and both were great. The brisket was tender and moist, with a great flavor -... More

OK, let me tell you that I like smoked brisket w/ a good brown sugar/molasses based sauce, which is what you get all over Texas. After reading the other reviews, I was prepared for a very special experience. What I got was another good Texas barbeque lunch plate, somewhat better than average. I think the folks that really rave about... More
