I stopped in for lunch while in town for business. I had the ribs, potato salad, and beans. The ribs were cooked well, had a good rub and about the right amount of smoke. This came together and made a good rib. The potato salad was good, and the beans were ok. They tasted like some jazzed up Ranch Style... More

The menu is small....Ribs, sides and desserts.... but what more could you ask for?? The ribs are addictive. Fall of the bone tender with a hint of sweet. The baked potato casserole is a keeper and save room for the banana pudding! Casual, come as you are.

There is no menu here. The waitress tells you your choice of meats and sides. Two of use ordered the brisket (so yummy) and one had ribs (very good). For the sides we tried potato salad (good not great), spicy mac and cheese (good but major bite at the end) and potato casserole (so good - would order two next... More

Part of our barbecue tour. We got brisket sandwich and ribs to go. Brisket sandwich is the way to go. Ribs are very good, but the chopped brisket is EXCELLENT. This should be part of any BBQ Tour of Texas.

Been eating barbecue every trip to Texas for the last 40 years with my Texas born husband and this is the BEST we have ever come across in all these years. It was recommended to us years ago by numerous friends and relatives in east Texas and they have been serving it since 1939!! Great atmosphere, food, and staff; it... More

Great place, good food. Our table had ribs, brisket, sausage and turkey. Everyone's meal was delicious. Potato casserole was scrumptious and spicy mac n cheese was seasoned just right. Had homemade cobbler for dessert.

The food is AMAZING! If you leave here hungry you didn't do it right. The service is great and the atmosphere is fun! This is a local favorite and has been for many years! Never disappoints!

My wife and I joined family members for dinner at the Country Tavern Barbecue. I was amazed that this restaurant has been in operation many decades, and I have never heard of it. Let me make this simple for the readers. If you like Barbecue beef ribs, you must put this place on your bucket list. Never in my life... More

The food was great but it is on the high side for price on Barbecue. The staff is very friendly and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time.

This BBQ place is quite famous, and they know it. To me, their BBQ is good, but average or only slightly above. However their following is legendary around Kilgore. Truly, people from far away love this place, and make it a "must" every time they get near Kilgore. The real downside is their prices - they KNOW they're famous. Too,... More
