Had the baked oysters. They were delicious. Also recomend the Past the Heather Modern Agaves drink. Very tasty and easy on the pallet.

Great ceviche and oysters. Just not as good as service when a lone single female diner. Would go back.

This place was FANtasTIC. We had four items. Ceviche, roasted oysters, lobster rice, and scallops. Everything was prepared perfectly. The service was impeccable as well. The drinks were on point and delivered quickly. So glad we chose thus place. We will definitely go again.

There are a number of restaurants with high reviews in the Houston Galleria area, so it took a while to decide where to have dinner. I was intrigued by the name of the restaurant, Caracol, so it stood apart on a list of highly rated...More

Great drinks, great oysters, great people watching, the amazing staff. You cannot go wrong with this restaurant (very crowded) but worth the hype.

Another Houston staple for consistently, high quality food with an equal measure of service. I visited on a busy night; stuck behind someone in valet line searching in their car for an item, rather than have me wait the valet walked over, apologized and proceeded...More

The food is pretty good. They have a coastal theme to many of the dishes. The food is fresh and well presented. Having said that for the portion size and the cost it isn't the best value. They also have multiple servers so every few...More

We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this restaurant- lovely ambience, unbelievable food, terrific waitstaff... Enjoyed the calamari, oysters, lobster rice, lobster taquitos, crab soup, langosta puerto nuevo, and el coco for dessert. Every dish was beautifully prepared, succulent and a feast for the eyes. Great...More

The $29 margarita is actually worth it. We usually come for the fish and seafood but there are so many unique takes on fish, duck beef and pork. We loved the lobster taquitos, tuna tacos. The halibut with the stuffed squash blossoms was our favorite....More

Came here unsure of what to expect. Everything was delicious! Not your normal Tex-mex. If you want queso and the kind of go to Mexican food, this is not for you. If you want a more fine dining experience with unique Mexican flavors, you will...More

Casual to cocktail. Anything goes. I would say dressy jeans and heels for women and you'll feel comfortable. Same for men without the heels:)

Description
One of the beauties of Mexico is its geographic location, with coasts on the Pacific Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico, which is connected to the Atlantic Ocean via the Florida Straits. From these waters comes a bounty of edible sea life, which is celebrated at Caracol, the award-winning restaurant of culinary team of Chef Hugo Ortega and Restaurateur Tracy Vaught. Caracol meaning “snail” in Spanish, was chosen as the restaurant’s name because of Chef Hugo’s fond memories of making ceviche de caracol (conch ceviche) in his brother Jose Luis’ kitchen at a resort in Playa del Carmen (see Hugo’s personal essay below). Our menu is a culinary tour along the Mexican coasts, which are shared by 16 of the country’s states.
