The 5oz Margarita was $9 and 4oz Sangria was $11. Sangria was not a signature cocktail ... added cloves, yuk! The waitress was NOT knowledgeable on cocktail or beer selections or suggestions. However, the eclectic atmosphere and convenience of walking to the restaurant was relaxing....More

Enjoyed a rare in Houston outdoor late lunch today. The steak said, though a little price I think, was quite tasty and just enough. I had the ice tea which was a little bitter/strong . Service by Somalia was very pleasant and a free chocolate...More

This restaurant was recommended to us to try. We live in the suburbs and have mostly chain restaurants in our area so we looked forward to try Down House. When I called to make reservations for 4, I was asked if it was a special...More

This used to be my favorite place in The Heights a few years ago but I’m so sad to see they have lost that spark. The food is only so-so and the menu is no longer updated as much as it used to. Drinks are...More

Love to walk here for drinks, however dinner was not good! Fried chicken was over cooked and the wedge salad was weird! And the wine for the amount was pretty ridiculous! Sorry I love the Heights but this place needs to do better with dinner!

I went there recently and was impressed, it was relaxed and the menu provided a lot of options, brunch and lunch which you cannot always find. We sat outside and the atmosphere was relaxed and casual, the food was delicious.

Food is pretty good, changing menu with unordinary combinations. The service is ok but often comes with some attitude.

Loved the Heights. Drove right to the restaurant. Met my business guest. We talked a while and were continually interrupted by the waitress. Finally we ordered and we both got the pork chop. When it came, it was tasty but very small. The chop and...More

Ok being well situated and with quirky decor but sadly a big feature of the atmosphere was the loud and constant hum from the ventilation system - could feel as well as hear it. Not a very large selection on the menu and disappointed to...More

The idea of challenging the status quo manifested itself early with a few questions: Who says that restaurants have to have bad coffee? Who says that bars have to have bad food? Who says that coffee shops can't have great food or alcohol? It would be the mission of DH to serve professionally executed specialty coffee, a chef-driven menu, and a quality focused craft bar. We enthusiastically live our values of community, quality, hospitality, education, and fun every day.
