First we had a reservation which I fully recommend. There were over 20 people waiting when we arrived. However we had a reservation so we were seated right away. Atmosphere is of course very very casual and full of tourist. Expect it to be very...noisy and it was. Our waiter Adrain was friendly, pleasant and helpful. Good choices on the menu and prices were quite reasonable. My spouse and I split the Shrimp Cocktail with 10 Shrimp $14 then we split the Fried Gulf Shrimp with 10 Shrimp $20. Portions were decent size and we even left some of the fries. Thought the food was delicious. There is a large public parking lot next door. Notice without a reservation except a possible long wait time.More

Nice location directly across from the Pleasure Pier. The food was average for the price you pay. The margarita, while being highly recommended, was also a bit disappointing. The highlight was the quality of the service. Our waiter was too good for the restaurant. Do...not necessarily have to go back.More

Food was excellent steak was just as I ordered. Wifes shrimp just like she wanted it service not so great. Had to chase down our waitress to refill our drinks. Out of sweet tea no big deal. When we asked for refills they were making...tea. Dinner rush how does this happen ? We ordered a drink the shark bite. Buy the drink keep the glass but it was not a souvenir glass. We asked about that and noone knew the answer. Finally they gave us another glass to take home but wanted to charge for it but luckily someone from management straightened that out. Overall great food but lousy serviceMore

In our opinion this is the best place to eat in Galveston. We've never had a bad meal here. The thing that keeps drawing us back to Fish Tales is the BREAD PUDDING. You have to try it at least once. The fish and chips...is the best and my favorite. We highly recommend.More

Our 3-person party had dinner in comfortable building that has a wonderful location. We were seated immediately at an upstairs table that was next to a noisy server/hostess congregation area. It should be one of the last tables seated NOT one of the first. Food...and drink orders were taken quickly. I ordered the blackened redfish which came with steamed veggies and rice pilaf. The fish portion was under seasoned and on the small side for the $. Oysters on the half shell was fresh and tasty. Our waiter was attentive and timely.More

Very cool looking place across from Pleasure Pier. Wasn’t sure what to expect but the beer was cold and the food was surprisingly very good! My wife had the steak and shrimp and the steak was cooked well with a delicious butter sauce on top!...I ate her delicious grilled shrimp! I had the fish tacos and they were perfect with great Tex Mex flavor. Our server had more to be desired but like most places on the island, they appear way understaffed.More

Good food across from Pleasure Pier. We started with the Crab Balls, which were ok, not great. I had fried shrimp served with fries and coleslaw, and they were very good. My husband had fried catfish and it was just ok. Huge portions, we couldn’t...eat it all, but like most restaurants in town kind of pricy for what you get. I thought it would be nice sitting outside, but with the flies and birds swarming you I’d suggest an inside table.More

Fish Tales was a short walk from our hotel so we decided to try it for lunch upon arrival in Galveston for our weekend get-a-way. We wanted something light since we had reservations for a bigger dinner later in the day. We were greeted by...a very personable young man, Vernon, who escorted us to a perfect table for a view of the gulf. After taking our drink orders, he pointed to a couple of items on the menu that he recommended. One of his recommendations was their Avocado, Shrimp cocktail served with tortilla chips so we decided to try it. It was absolutely wonderful. We then asked to split their Greek Salad and it, too, turned out to be great and just perfect for a lunch. Vernon was so pleasant and so helpful that we planned to come back on one of our other days and ask for him. Fish Tales was a great introduction to Galveston’s wonderful restaurant choices. Too bad we’re only here for 3 days!More

First, my husband for locked in the bathroom stall and had to text me he couldn’t get out. Apparently that wasn’t the first time it has happened to somebody. I felt kind of bad for the waiter we had. I think they were short staffed....Everything was really slow. We waited a long time for our drinks and struggled to get someone to bring us some silverware even 10 minutes after the food arrived. My husband liked his oysters but I wasn’t overly impressed with everything. The outdoor windows were filthy, covered in greasy fingerprints and the manager seemed very unorganized. Wouldn’t be going back.More
