I dropped in 8 years ago for a terrific meal. That visit, the pit master took me around back to show me how the BBQ was done--- I had asked questions about their ribs and how they were smoked and he took me for a "show and tell"----fast forward to yesterday and nothing has changed. Great BBQ--- very nice folks... More

Gotta come back, a must before I type another thing. Ok we were driving by on the way to the Perdernales Brewing Co.for lunch. We had been wine tasting in Fredericksburg Tx. ( See review of Grape Creek Winery and William and Chris) We found out they did not have food even though they had a menu listed on Trip... More

This extremely popular place (never ending long queue during this Spring break Friday lunch) is the perfect place for a Texan BBQ shack experience. You order "cafeteria style" at the counter (different choices of meat and sides, beers also available), and then self-serve your unlimited sides from a nearby "sides bar". You eat from disposable plates on a plastic tray.... More

Everything at Cranky Frank's is delicious! The pork, chicken, ribs and brisket are all unbeatable. The sides are delicious, but the meat is exceptional......so good, and always dependable!,,

Cranky Frank's is pretty casual. Don't dress up, but do expect to have some great food. Rated one of the 50 best BBQ places in America, I concur. Brisket, pork, chopped beef, chicken and more. I recommend the stuffed baked potato, but you better be hungry to eat it all. They open at 11am and close when they sell out,... More

Very good brisket and pulled pork sandwich. Sides just OK. Small place, inside and outside seating. Nothing fancy.

We went to Lockhart and Llano. This place had the best brisket of any and cheaper. Sure, the interior was not the ritz. I wanted good BBQ and they delivered.

Hole in the wall where all the locals eat. All you can eat sides beans, cole slaw, potato salad, green beans. Huge portions with no fat on the meat. The brisket was delicious.

Picked Cranky's from all the great reviews and did not disappoint. Hubs had beef brisket and I had loaded spud - delicious! No fat, which is a biggie for me. Huge portion, could only eat 1/3 of it. Suggest splitting unless you are starving. Typical hole-in-the-wall BBQ joint. No atmosphere if that's what you're looking for. Just good old-fashioned Texas... More

Show up when they open because once they sell what they have for the day, they close. When we ordered brisket, the trimmings were being thrown away and I commented that they should put that in the chopped. The cutters reply was, "At Cranky Franks, we only throw meat in our chopped." The pulled pork and the ribs were just... More
