There is plenty of beer and what a variety of very good brews. The food is excellent and I would have gone back but there was many other good ones.

The chickenschnitzle was great! They have chicken strips for kids and the French fries are excellent. However, this is more of a bar atmosphere than some of the other German restaurants in town.

Looking for a sampling of German fare, we wondered into AUSLANDER, the German word for outsider or tourist. I believe the owners of this place were the auslanders since the dishes offered had some traditional German ingredients refashioned into a contemporary motif. We opted for a plate of German Spring Rolls. To be sure, the variety included Reuben, Sausage and... More

We went to Fredericksburg to shop. We decided to eat lunch while we were there, and settled on The Auslander. As we walked in, we noticed they had an outdoor patio out back. We were seated inside in a room with about 100 cuckoo clocks. I love them so i had plenty to look at while we waited for our... More

My husband had the potato soup, it was watery and not very good. My salad dressing (ranch) was thin and watery. The mashed potatoes were bland, I'm not sure this place has any salt in it's kitchen. I had chicken fried chicken and again it was lacking any kind of flavor, the breading seemed very bland. My husband had the... More

After looking at all the menus of the other German places in town I was surprised by how few items on the menus were actually German. When we found this place were we pleasantly surprised as the menu was extensive and authentic, but also had very helpful and attentive service. While the snitzels were smaller than I was expecting for... More

Auslander is German for tourist and this restaurant is German food for tourists; always busy but with a good beer selection. The menu should satisfy a craving for German food even if the food is Texanized. On previous visits I have been seated indoor which is a nicer dining experience but on this busy holiday December night, and not willing... More

This was the "Guys" day to have fun! After a long morning at the National Museum of the Pacific War we were hungry. This was an easy vote for five guys - beer & German food to the rescue. Despite a full restaurant we got seated a large table. Everybody tried their own favorite and washed it down with some... More

We had a great lunch out on the patio. The staff kept busy, the food was hot and delicious. Great beer on tap.
