Four of us ate breakfast at the Old Geman Bakery today and it was excellent. Our recommendation came from a young police officer from Frederickburg. My husband said this restaurant was a home-run! We are traveling and spent the night in your lovely town. Wish the bluebonnets had been in bloom.

We stopped for a pastry when we got to town, then returned for lunch. It's not fancy, but the food is great and the service was good. The menu contains lots of wonderful German items. I had German potato pancakes and my wife had sauerbraten with red cabbage and warm potato salad. Both were delicious. We recommend a stop if... More

We popped into this location for Breakfast - great food and service at a good price. Would have been better had the eggs been from free range chickens, the yokes were really weak and watery as most are now days.

I'm a local, so I have my biases, but The Old German Bakery is where I usually eat breakfast. Good food, good prices and good service. Get there early or late as they can get crowded, and don't take reservations. Check out their German pancakes for something a little different. They also have great lunch specials, and the portions are... More

German classics. The food was good; my father thought the cole slaw was too sour, but my mother liked it. Huge portions of schnitzel, although we wished it came with noodles. Authentic wall decorations. The restaurant is popular.

Breakfast here is a really good, casual way to start the day. We were seated right away, service was quick. I had eggs and bacon and my husband had huevos rancheros. Both were tasty. We also shared one of their yummy German pancakes. It was thin, but hung over the sides of a regular size dinner plate. You can get... More

Great Service. The food was okay. For the record, ordering Migas was not a great idea. However, the German pancakes were pretty good. It's worth going back. Didn't get to try the large baked goods counter. Maybe next time.

Good food in a very informal setting. We came here for lunch after a drive in Hill Country. Our lunch was served quickly and our sandwiches were very good. The potato salad accented them perfectly. NOTE: If you want bakery goods you have to come early or else you get to pick from some pretty bare shelves.

Dear Mr Modu Thank you for taking the time to write a review,we appreciate your comments about our restaurant, and our potato salad as everything else is made from scratch, recipes from my mom. Yes the bakery sells out fast, that's our goal in order to bake all the goodies fresh each day. Please visit us again. Sincerely Lutz owner More
