There is a reason there is a big parking lot outside. There is a reason there are lots of places to sit inside. There is a reason there is a long line to get some of this deliciousness. Why? Cause it is SO gooooood. We...More

Thank you for the time spent sharing this awesome feedback! We're pretty proud of our meats but it's nice to get a little love for our sides, too. We make them all fresh from scratch, every day in-house. Thanks for tasting the difference and helping...More

We purchased beef sausage links at Southside Market & Barbeque. The links were full of gristle and guts...mostly gristle. We could not eat them and just threw them away. Sorry, but we cannot recommend the sausage links. However, we did not try any of the...More

Thank you for your feedback. As we indicated earlier, we prepare authentic Central Texas sausage - all beef, coarse-ground, in a natural pork casing. We recognize that it may be quite different for some folks if they are expecting a more finely ground sausage like...More

I still regret not buying a baseball cap and 100 pounds of least to go. The best lamb in the world, with the special smoky flavorful fat coating the roof of my mouth with every bite. I really regret eating here because after this meal...More

Stopped at Southside BBQ while passing through Elgin (Hard "G" as I was told by locals), easily the best meal on my Texas Trip! Elgin is famous for their Smoked "Hot" Sausage - it lived up to expectations. Several combos available, which allowed me to...More

More of a BBQ cafeteria and less a Market. Why take it home to make on your own when it's perfectly served up here. Chicken was good, Sausage was great, but the brisket will certainly spoil you for life. Nothing better!More

Harry - Thanks for this great review! Though we did start out as a meat market 135 years ago and still boast a fine selection of top quality fresh meats for sale - you're right, why not let us do the smoking? We're happy to...More

Every this is really good there, but my favorite is their Elgin Hot Sausage, that is what made them famous. You should try some next time you're there, along with some onions, pickles and crackers. Classic Elgin

Description
First established in 1882, Southside is proud to offer Authentic Texas Barbeque and Sausage from the oldest joint in the state! Best known as the home of the Original Elgin Sausage, we're equally proud of our slow smoked brisket, pork steaks, ribs, chicken, turkey, and more. We've continued the same traditions of smoking quality meats over real Texas post oak wood with nothing but a simple dry rub and time for over 132 years. We also offer a fresh meat market & Blue Bell ice cream counter. We're a family friendly place that'll treat YOU like family on your next visit.
